Trump signs order renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America, escalating Canada feud

President Donald Trump ordered Lake Ontario to be renamed Lake America, the latest broadside in his escalating feud with Canada.
In the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump signed an order requiring that the U.S. Interior Department update geographic information systems to change the name of the lake, located between New York and Canada.


“We filed all the necessary papers, documents, everything else,” Trump said. “We notified all the various people that we have to notify. So we’ve done everything that you have to do. And this is official, effective immediately.”
Trump said he made the change, which follows renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America last year, because “Canada has been ripping us off for a long time on trade, very sadly.”

That's a totally jerk move on his part but unfortunately he can't help himself.

I support his attempts to get a better deal with Canada but calling them our 51st state or renaming Lake Ontario is just asking for a fight.

It won't be much of a fight since Canada is bragging about finally meeting the 2% NATO defense spending target- which is obsolete now that the target is 5%,

We are fighting a war in Iran after Trump last year completely destroyed its nuclear capability.

At the same time, we are fighting a trade war with Canada after Trump, in his first term, secured the greatest trade deal of all time with Canada.
