A real agent would have advised him to enter the portal last spring. That's why so many players in Mark's class did just that. It's an agent's job to know these things.

Mark hired his brother as his agent. It appears his brother had no experience in the field before starting an agency (BAM Sports & Entertainment) and getting licensed. Mark was his first and most high profile client. It looks like all his other clients he has since signed are either high school athletes or people in the entertainment industry (including a dancer who appears to also be a family member.)

Yes it did. It did not alter the SEC transfer rules.

He's still free to transfer to another non-SEC school and play there for the '26-'27 season, assuming there no setbacks in his current court case.

But if he stays at UK, he is not eligible for the '26-'27 basketball season due to an SEC rule that the University of Kentucky just voted to uphold. And the penalties for playing him at UK this season would be:
1. Mark Pope suspended for 50% of the season
2. A fine equal to 50% of the Kentucky men's basketball's budget
3. Removal of UK's voting privileges in the SEC.

Need I remind you who we’re dealing with? Greg Sankey was chairman of the COI (Committee on Infractions) on Your Cheatin’ *** North Carolina Paper Class Case. The Tar Heels were deemed to be guilty even by their Chancellor and a mountain of evidence proving such. Sankey turned a blind eye and the Heels walked away unscathed. He’ll buckle on this too.

You are actually stupid if you can't understand this.

That was the whole point of the lawsuit not only getting a 5th year but also saying you didn't know you had a 5th year, go ahead and enter and start your portal window.

He sure will be! No matter how much that bag, @TarHeelInCharlotte whines and cries about it 🙄
Mitchell will play this year, just not in the SEC. No way we allow Pope to miss 50% of season and lose 50% of basketball budget. In the eyes of the court, Mitchell is not being punished. Clearly with 100% of member Presidents voting to support the rules, this leaves very little if any chance the courts will or could override the SEC & Big10 rules.

The courts can override whatever they want. The SEC is not bigger than our judicial system. The argument for Mitchell to be able to play is stronger than the rules of the SEC, specifically for transferring after a deadline and for this specific case.

Genuine question: I know KSR—and Kentucky basketball in general—has far more engagement and people talking, but does UNC’s site not have anything to talk about or anyone there to talk to?

People on here are acting like what you say is ridiculous but this is exactly where it stands right now . Unless something changes,UK would have to fight this and considering our president just voted for it …….

There is also a time crunch with classes starting. Mitchells camp will have to decide pretty quickly if they take a chance and fight this (with the possible outcome being not playing at all )or going to another school (UL ?)for less money but being guaranteed eligibility.

He can also return to Missouri and not be challenged.

The problem with that is Missouri has a full 15 scholarship roster currently. He can't go back to Missouri (barring something crazy like them finding one of the narrow exceptions that would allow them to release a player and get that scholarship/roster spot back). If the TRO in Kentucky holds, but he loses the ability to play in the SEC, he'd have to find an out of conference school with roster spots open AND a school that is still open academically for him to enroll for the fall semester. Otherwise he couldn't enroll until the spring semester and have to miss everything through December. Still tons of layers to this and no closer to an actual answer on what he "has" to do to play, or even where. This is exactly what the NCAA wants though, pure chaos, to try and force Congress to hear the issue and make legislature.

I believe Missouri would make a spot for him in about 5 minutes….. but do they have the money?

Unfortunately, UL fits perfectly. And supposedly….there offer was just slightly less than ours .

How though? The NCAA has VERY strict rules on releasing a player and they are at the max of 15 roster spots. Those options are even more limited because classes already started at Missouri on Monday. Missouri can't just drop a cigar minutes player to add Mitchell back.

They could probably put a player on walk on status or something ? They would find a way for a returning all sec player. But I don’t know if they have the money to make Mitchell happy anyway.

Im more concerned about UL since it came down to UK vs UL in the end and their offer was slightly less than ours (from what I’ve read)

There are no more walk ons anymore (they all count against the 15 player roster cap) and you can't take away a promised scholarship unless they violate university rules or break the law (and even then, you don't get that scholarship OR roster spot back to use on another player). Missouri, having started the fall semester already, has no legal way to clear up a roster spot to add Mitchell.

Money doesn't matter at all. They could have 100 million in NIL to spend on bringing Mitchell back and it won't solve the full roster issue.

Little brother could line up hookers from Rupp to the Yum Center and Mitchell won't play there. He couldn't enroll there this fall even if he wanted to, the fall deadline for enrollment is passed.

Mitchell can play for more than 150 schools next year, just not in the SEC & Big10. The courts can not force a school to give a kid a scholarship and a NIL deal. We (UK) or any school in the SEC or Big10 will have their coach suspended 50% of the season and lose 50% of their basketball budget.

I can’t link things from the premium board to Rupp Rafters , the site blocks it when I try.

But dude , why do you think I would make this up ? I’ve been on this site since 2002 and I’m sure there are guys still on here that would vouch for me .

This whole bowl of crap makes me sick too . And hopefully something will happen to change the way this thing is trending. And if it does NOBODY will be more happy than me .

UL’s fall deadline is something I didn’t know . Hopefully that will be a dealbreaker for them . I wouldn’t be surprised if they found a way around that though. Legal or illegal.
