SEC presidents reaffirmed their intraconference transfer policy prohibiting players moving within the league outside of the portal, per a copy of a Sankey memo.

Mitchell had no reason to enter the portal since the NCAA hid the fact that they were planning to give EVERYONE but the 22 class an extra year of eligibility until after the portal. Hope Mitchell and UK both fight this dumbass ruling.
Lots of seniors entered the portal in anticipation of a 5-for-5 eligibility fight. Mitchell has only himself to blame for that.

UK voted for this rule in the SEC. They empowered Sankey to enforce it. They just recommitted their support for Sankey to enforce it.

Mitchell's best option now is go to a non SEC school. He's got his TRO. He's temporarily eligible. He can't return to Mizzou bc they are full. He's not going to play at UK without UK suffering the penalties outlined in the SEC memo.

Nothing a lawsuit won't change. Is the NC team so boring that you spend all your time here?

The NCAA has failed to realize that these kids have money and agents now for lawyers. These aren't the kids of old where they could walk all over them knowing they couldn't afford good lawyers. This should be an easy "F-U" to this stupid "ruling".

All the SEC Presidents, including UK's President, today reaffirmed their commitment to this rule. That's what this memo means. It means there is no way around this for Mark Mitchell in the SEC. Neither the UK President or the Mizzou President went to bat for him. They folded and voted unanimously. What's he going to do, sue and say "I want to play at UK"? The judge is going to say "UK voted to support the rule that you don't play. Case dismissed."

Your President just screwed Mitchell and Pope.

Mitchell can't return to Mizzou, they are out of spots. His only option now is to find a non SEC school that hasn't started classes.

Thinking that someone who illegally entered the transfer portal with no eligibility remaining was the righteous party over someone who followed the rules at the time is some real galaxy brain ****.
There's no such thing as illegally entering the portal. The portal is just a database. Players with expired eligibility have been entering it the past couple of years in hopes of getting more eligibility through lawsuits or NCAA rules changes.

I keep hearing about “not transferring during initial portal window” but that language does not reflect that Mitchell is a senior and was forced to enter the draft and entering the transfer portal made no sense with Mark Mitchell limited information.

if that’s all the SEC has I suspect it’ll still come up to a court case that they are taking potential earnings from Mark Mitchell who should be making money from either NBA or NCAA

I was worried about this with Mitchell even though he’s really talented.

Sankey and the SEC spoke out against this before Mitchell was ever ruled on by the judge in KY. They are clearly strongly against this.

Honestly if we want some rules on college sports this is the best thing for the future. Stinks for next year’s team, but in terms of college basketball in the long run I have no problem with players that have signed professional contracts not allowed and no players transferring within the SEC outside the portal window.

If Mitchell is eligible great. If he’s not and they actually tighten down on the sport I enjoy even though it’ll hurt next year’s team I understand it. Although UK could play him and have Pope suspended half the season from coaching and recruiting. That could be a win-win…this is a joke btw

We'll see what happens. But if this is what the SEC does, well, the hell with the SEC. This is just one more reason in a long line of them to hate this corrupt piece of crap conference. Mitchell should get his chance to play. I'm tired of the games that the NCAA and SEC are playing.
