Nobody has really ever cared about the people playing the game, I don't think anybody would care if emmitt come backs...they are just helmets, symbols, and numbers,,,which is why I think football is so popular in America. There isn't a sport that dehumanizes the athlete more...low salaries, life threatening injuries, poor post career investment, any player speaks up and gets blacklisted. I brought up the idea that we could buy a semi-pro team and just suit them up and win, and really people wouldn't care anymore. It works for football because of the costume and the fanbase being ignorant wild animals, myself included.

I'm all for a strong judicial branch if you want to protect your freedom. But the idea that all it takes is one judge. From anywhere. To make a favorable ruling that changes sports is ridiculous.
I will be watching very little "big time" college football. I'll watch most of Nebraska's games this year of course. For the first time in a long while, I won't have tickets. Donations went up and the person I shared tickets with didn't want to buy them. And I decided not to pay for everything on my own. I might regret it. We shall see.
It's a horrible ruling. And it's been allowed in college basketball for at least a year. D-league players, foreign pros. We think that we'll have a damn good basketball team again this year, but all it takes is for an opponent to bring in one pro to make a huge impact.
I have a feeling things will be changing on that required donation stuff after this season if the team isn’t successful. I just saw an article that there are three games for Minnesota this year where if you buy three red bear and pizzas you can get two tickets to the gopher football game. They are doing this for 1000 tickets available to each of those games.

I only end up watching the top 5 teams. Nebraska doesn't have a single interesting game on the schedule where you could stay glued for 4 quarters. Nebraska vs. Michigan State will be the game of the year for us...I hope for a great season...but if we are looking like we are winning 5 or 6, then I kind of hope for an apocalypse and a boo party like 2022, 2016, 2007... the spectacle is at least entertaining...I can't stand so many people being paid so much for so little.

How about you make an argument like "wow, that Illinois game might be a great one, or I think we can hang in there with Indiana." Are you really happy with the state of things? Are you really that apathetic that you will mindlessly watch crappy football. I said I would love a great season but I admit I would hate another mediocre season that just keeps the charade going. Life isn't convenient. The reality is, crashing out last year would have been far better for the program than going 6-3, giving a stupid extension, then watching our qb go down and finishing the year as one of the worst teams in the sport. I just don't understand the hypocrisy...people are pissed at the extension, that our coach is terrible, that is he scamming the U for 13 million a year but they want 5 wins and more years with him instead of ripping the band aid off. If he can win 7 or 8, I'm all for it. It will absolutely not happen. Most sports are ok with tanking to get better...there is no harm in it as long as we move on to better things. Paying so much to be 12th out of 18 in the big 10 is a nightmare for the program.
