Seems weird the SEC can create a rule that forces the NCAA to violate multiple TRO orders. But who the hell knows anymore lol
I guess it depends on whether the SEC rule is viewed as distinct. The NCAA rule was the 5 for 5 that excluded players who have already exhausted their eligibility under the governing rule during their play. This is not that rule but deals with players who have played or contracted with U.S. professional teams. I am not sure a conference rule is a violation of any anti trust law. If enforceable and not a violation of law, I think the SEC is saying go play in another conference.

SEC already clarified and said summer league was fine as long as no contract officially signed. And they weren’t an early entrant draft guy. Mitchell did neither

That’s the rule that would get Mitchell. The sec to sec rule. Keep up
You jump in on a conversation between two posters that you did not understand and then pump your chest when you comment on something irrelevant. Good for you. Bliss, even if self-delusional, is still bliss.

Good one. Wasn’t pumping my chest. The sec transfer rule only pertains to Mitchell. So I don’t know what you all up in arms about. Not capable of conversation?

He doesn't meet the SEC's rule about being in the portal by April if you want to be immediately eligible at a new SEC school. A rule UK voted to implement. I still think that is the biggest roadblock for Mitchell. Because at the end of the day Mitchell could have transferred anywhere. He chose UK knowing full well that UK voted to implement an interconference transfer rule that leaves him ineligible for '26-'27. That's going to be tough to beat if the SEC enforces it. A judge is likely to ask why he should be exempt from a rule that UK supports, and why Mitchell would have to just picked from the hundreds of schools that didn't have that particular eligibility rule as a roadblock.
The portal window was extended when the TRO was granted. He was ineligible to enter it after the tourney was over because at that time he was a graduated senior with no 5th year available.

The discussion was the SEC rule on professional athletes that is in the OP.

No he's not. The TRO extended the portal for 4 days when it was granted. He was ineligible for the portal in April because he didn't have a 5th year granted yet.
There is no such thing as "ineligible for the portal."

Players with no eligibility have been entering the transfer portal for several years now. It's a database. Any player can enter it. Players with experienced agents were advised to enter the portal in case of NCAA rules changes. 3 of Mark Mitchell's Mizzou teammates did it this past spring with no eligibility.

The problem is Mark chose to hire his inexperienced brother to be his agent, bc he wanted to help his brother start a career and a business. Unfortunately the inexperienced agent didn't give Mark the advice that he needed to hear. This is why you don't mix family with business.

Given that court ordered stays have been over ruled in Tennessee and Ohio, don't pin our hopes on a KY judge whose ruling may also be overturned.

Interesting that you don't deny being here just to troll the UK fanbase. I have "ties" to England. Doesn't mean squat. You're here to rage bait our fans.

Piss off. None of us want you here.
Why in the world would we care if he has ties to England? F England lol.

Mark Mitchell didn’t sign a contract.

Mark Mitchell did not formally enter the draft because he was a graduated Senior.

Mark Mitchell did not formally withdraw from the draft because he did not have to formally enter the draft.

Am I correct everyone?
You may be correct on some of your statements but to say Mitchell did not sign a contract is wildly off base. No way the NBA & affiliates would let a kid play without signing a contract. The contract would protect both parties as far a compensation and in the event of an injury.

I’ve argued the same point but was told I was an idiot and got “owned”. Make that make sense. Plus any compensation would have to be taxed. You have to sign stuff for that.

I even posted a link to Missouri athletics that said he signed and played.

Don’t get me wrong, Mitchell should play but it’s semantics at this point.

"Technically speaking, Styles is out of years of eligibility, but he’s banking on the NCAA passing new legislation that would grant players five years of eligibility. Wolfpack Forward Ben Middlebrooks and Guard Breon Pass are banking on the same thing."

So 2 people? I’ll give you that you responded with it but to act like it’s anything near the same is laughable.

Not going to lie, I didn’t read it, was medical involved in them?

Of the thousands of college basketball players who entered the transfer portal this spring, at least 137 of them stand out because of one thing they’re all lacking: remaining college eligibility."

137 players with no eligibility entered the men's basketball transfer portal in the spring of 2025...

"Clemson starters Ian Schieffelin and Jaeden Zackery, for example, both have played four full DI seasons and said on social media they entered the portal only at the advice of their representation — just in case the NCAA loosens its restrictions."

A common theme is "advice of representation." Their agents told them to cover their bases by entering the portal. Something Mark Mitchell's brother (inexperienced agent) never advised Mark.

I get that but like I said in another post, that doesn’t mean much to me. Just because they did doesn’t mean he should have been expected to do the same, he thought he was out of eligibility due to the NcAA rules at the time. I know if I’m on jury(I know it’s not a jury trial) I am telling the NcAA to kick rocks.
