Just read the article. What Sophie actually said:

"I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" she told ESPN. "I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men." - Sophie.

What this podcaster turned that into:

"The moment the league didn't discipline Sophie Cunningham for her transphobic comments, they set the table for almost all of this political discourse and nastiness towards the trans community. Her conduct has objectively been detrimental to the league." - Chris Williamson

There was literally NOTHING "transphobic" about her comments. (There's no such thing as "trans" anyway, much like there are no magic unicorns, or flying pigs, it's a fantasy, delusion, mental illness, etc) It is truly unbelievable how these people can just take something, twist it 180 degrees, to make it something it was never intended to be. This article is being run by Yahoo Sports, on the main Google News page.

It may have not been transphobic, but it was detrimental. There are no transgender players in the league. Sophie has never claimed that there was one. However, she helped create a political firestorm just because she wants to be a darling of the right. Good luck applying for a correspondents job on Fox News next year, because your 8 points a game is not worth the trouble. She is the WNBA equivalent to Jaden Ivey IMO. You can have any political belief you want, but are you really good enough for the headache.

"Transphobic" is just the newest "racist" or "hate speech". It means that someone actually has a different opinion than a liberal.

And yeah, her comments were about as benign as you can get. And what happened? A league made specifically for women attacks the woman who is trying to speak out in support of women.

If I wrote this as a fiction story 10 years ago, it would have been laughed off as unbelievable.

You mean there are no KNOWN trans players in the league.

How was her statement detrimental, and to who is it detrimental? Men/boys who are not good enough to make it in male sports pretending to be girls so they can be "good" is directly detrimental to real females who participate in sports.

Bold lines:

1) Detrimental? - Stated as fact. By you. - It's not. - It's your opinion.
2) Actually, she just answered a QUESTION from an ESPN reporter, who knew full well they were fishing for a soundbite. - Furthermore, from actually listening to her own words, I believe what she WANTS is to protect girls from having to be FORCED to play against men.

I'm not sure how that's her wanting to be a darling of the right. - Did you run her words through your liberal filter first? That might explain things.

Example: POTUS Trump comes out and says he loves the blue sky and green grass and it's a beautiful day. - Liberals take that, filter it through their collective 3 brain cells and by the time it's done being filtered / twisted by the left, the message will be:

Trump says he wants to poison the green grass and turn the sky red because he's a ...(insert your own insult here, Nazi, Fascist, etc....)

Umm...that's NOT what he said. I swear to God, you people live in an alternate reality of BS and fantasy. How you survive is beyond me.

First off the dub has found new fame and money in hate and racism. They will continue to set the bar lower and lower for themselves as they continue to increase their rhetoric. Secondly its obvious the dub is against any white person that stands against their rhetoric. You see any black girls saying anything at all? Heck no they are towing the line. Don't want to be labeled an Uncle Tom or Aunt Tammy.

So how has that comment helped anyone? No Transgender player has got a job. No new girl has got a job by moving a transgender player out. It's just a hypothetical argument to prove that the WNBA, as an organization is not as inclusive as it claims. That may be helpful for your feelings, but does not move the WNBA forward in any way. Just a bunch of bad press for no reason. Falls right in line with Webster's Dictionary language on the term "detrimental".

So, a comment needs to "help" someone or you shouldn't be allowed to say it?

And I see two transgender signing up for next year's draft. Can't say its not happening anymore.

Why is ot only detrimental for one side of a discussion to voice their opinion and not the other?

You are right that its a bunch of bad press. Brought on by the ?nba itself.

Unless you can name or care to name the boy or Transgender player in the league, then it is a pointless argument. That is what I am saying. You are right to have your opinion about girls playing in girls sports. In fact, I agree with you on that. However, with regard to the WNBA, this argument is beyond stupid. It's just a hypothetical argument to cause chaos.

I have not paid this issue much attention, but I do not consider her comments as hateful or anything of the sort.

I agree.

(There's no such thing as "trans" anyway, much like there are no magic unicorns, or flying pigs, it's a fantasy, delusion, mental illness, etc) It is truly unbelievable how these people can just take something, twist it 180 degrees, to make it something it was never intended to be. I realize you (and some) will never accept the fact that people that have a genuine, deep seated conflict in their biological sex and the perception of their gender and making a decision to live their life as the opposite biological sex alleviates that conflict and allows them to be live a peaceful, happy life.

Until this was a political issue, I really don't understand why it's so hard to accept that a very small number of people can have an internal disconnect between their biological sex and the gender they perceive themselves to be but be perfectly logical, rational, productuive, loving human beings.

But my main objection is your "unbelievable how these people can just take something" - the people arguing about this issue pro or con are not trans people. 99.9% of the tiny number of trans people aren't paying this any attention. In fact, from my little bit of quick research, some of the most well known trans people on social media have publicly said they do not think biological men/boys should play on girls/women's only athletic teams.

Now, they are almost always talking about public schools, and NCAA competitive leagues, not pro leagues because they understand pro leagues can do whatever they want as they are private. But they likely have the same opinion there too.

is there evidence anywhere of a man/boy pretending to be a girl, living their life as a female, taking estrogen and also testosterone inhibiting prescribed medication on a long term basis in order to be 'good" on a girls' team?

I haven't heard about that, but I admit I don't keep up with such things.

Lots of people have genuine deep seated disconnect with reality. Pandering to them often makes them happy temporarily. Treating the sickness instead of the symptoms is always the better idea though.

And their right to a "peaceful happy life" ends when their peace infringes on the rights of others.

As for trans people not arguing about this? Does it ever get old trying to tell people what they should and shouldn't discuss?

Lia Thomas was the most famous one.

But I know you have an aversion to facts.

Honestly, this is one of the most obvious areas where the 'news' does everyone a real disservice.

There are many such examples that have come out in the last couple of years. From college swimming to boxing to MMA to weightlifting to high-school sports.

However, if you listen to news services that would have a particular political bent, you would never have heard of any of these cases. The obvious conclusion is that they don't exist. In many cases, that conclusion is supported by pundits to flat out lie and say these cases don't exist.

Most 'news' shows have moved from what is legally considered 'reporting' to what is legally considered 'opinion' specifically to bypass neutrality and legal liability for not telling their audience the truth.

The left generally follows the same formula.

1. Its not happening.
2. Its happening but only just a little.
3. Its happening and its actually a good thing.
4. Its happening and youre a racist/homophobe/islamaphobe/transphobe if you dont support and celebrate it.

The problem with this trans situation is that they have muddled up the order.

They tried to move to #4 too soon, and are having to backtrack. Now, little radicals like treestump are confused and not sure what page they are supposed to be on.

There might be one somewhere, but I am not aware of it.

There is a difference (whether you like it or not) of an actual transgendered person who lives their life as the opposite of their biological sex- and all that goes with that in terms of medication, etc. - only to participate in a sport.

Can you cite that person or persons?

Lia Thomas was the first one that popped to my mind.

But you've made it amply clear you'd rather hide from the truth than respond to it.

Pew Research says 73% of Americans are uncomfortable with biological male athletes competing against female athletes. Same as voter ID, it's hardly a far right opinion as the media would have us believe.
