And a FG blocked that I just saw the replay. So yes he booms kick offs which is a huge help and advantage in HS. And when they got the snap off and held he made 3 of the XP attempts, but the long snap, hold and blocking is a work in progress.
Special teams played a major role in the victory for ESL. That is all that matters. Especially in the first game of the season.

All I can say is EStL played better ball from the little I could watch. Losing by 19 was an embarrassment! This should show that the Caravan have to actually play the game and not just walk on the damn field!~~~

EStL did impress me...
Especially being up by 9 with the ball at midfield with 10 min left in the game. The penalties are what bothered me. Killed 2 drives for us that probably would have ended with points.

We can see the potential, for sure.

Jordan Lynch is on record as saying that penalties resulting from aggressive play don't bother him too much. But then there is the other kind of penalties, the stupid penalties. I think we'll see fewer of the latter in the game against SJR.

While I agree that the Caravan will be fine, I would not say they are always a slow starting team. Under Lynch, this is only the second time they have lost a game in week one. The other was to The Hun School a few years ago.
A little miffed at the "slow starting" team comment. They were not the better team on Saturday, case closed.

Does anyone know if they have a new offensive coordinator or is Lynch the play caller. Is anyone surprised by what seemed to be the game plan against ESL. I have seen MC in the past with a bunch of different formations and motions, screens and other variations that I feel were missing in this game. Is it just the ESL defense is that good and MC didn't want to attempt these types of plays?

I think it has more to do with breaking in a new QB and then when he went down it limits the playbook for the backup

I remember when MC played Quincy a couple of years ago, I really was amazed at their screens and misdirection out of various sets. On one hand, I feel that screens and the short passing game could help a young QB gain confidence, but then I remember the complexity of formations and all the window dressing probably would call for much more experience.

The penalties probably didnt help. They seemed to always be long yardage situations, which doesn't give you a ton of options for play calls.

I was a little suprised they didnt run the ball more to start the game considering they have 2 new qbs. But at the same time, your best two playmakers on offense are your WR so you have to get the ball in their hands.

One thing I would watch going forward is the transfer QB does not seem to be a running threat. They’ve had true dual threat QBs in recent years, which allows for more offensive options. I wonder if the soph QB, Elliott, may get a varsity look, if they don’t click offensively. I know he can run like his older brother.

He'll be up this week and for the remainder of the season. He may get some work and brought along slowly and then wait and see. Jack was only a back up as a Sophomore. He is a clone of his brother and I think he will be just as good but still needs time. But he will be QB 2 now.

The scoreboard rarely tell the whole story. Close observers of the team, at least during the Lynch era, have seen it show improvement throughout the season, sometimes game by game. Last year, for example, the team that narrowly defeated Moeller in the first game of the season was not the same team that disassembled LWE in the playoffs. And in '23, the last time they played the Flyers in late August, it was a very tight game. But they faced no opposition in the playoffs. While this is not a yearly occurrence, it happens often enough to be a pattern.

They played poorly last Saturday night, which was more disappointing than the loss. If they had played well and lost, I would have been happy with the effort.
