Top 14? Why not top 25? Recruiting has been wild for a while, but any kid announcing his top 14 . . . OK. I don't know how Ben and his staff and the rest of college basketball coaches deal with this. They're made of sterner stuff than I, that's for sure.

Daughtry does say good stuff about Iowa and Stirtz, which is nice, and he's supposed to be on a visit to Iowa City for the Iowa State football game, so that's interesting. Would it be great to have him join Ben's team? Sure, but I, for one, won't be losing any sleep over it. Still, making the top 14 ain't nothin', right?

A top 14 announcement is hilarious.

Social media has led us all to be attention-seekers. These young dudes can’t help it..

In fairness to Daughtry, his offer list is more than twice the size of his cutdown list, he sliced about 2/3 of the suitors. It could very well be a need to reduce the volume of communication he has to deal with every day.

FWIW: On 247, Iowa is one of only four schools designated as “warm” so that is encouraging (but anything can change).

Do you suppose the communication to all the schools (Example: “I am not considering your program”) only happens via these social media announcements?

No. However, it might be the case here … other recruits have described it as a tough conversation. I don’t know that you can automatically say that the kid is only seeking attention but who knows?

Yea He literally "narrowed" it down to a Conference sized collection of schools . Sounds more like an Agent saying Your school is still in it if You value $$$$$$$$$$ My Client enough ......

Hey, having 14 "bidders" is better than 5 if you're looking for $$$.
aren’t you the same guy that harassed me for two days over suggesting some girl basketball recruit might of chose OSU over Iowa for 💰💰💰 without proof?

Ironic

He told me back in July that he was going to cut his list to 10 or 11 schools, so it was always going to be a larger number.

Interesting note, I don't follow recruiting much anymore so when I googled this player the first result was his Wikipedia page. Seems unusual for a high school player to already have one, so I clicked it for fun. Very short page, but under 'personal life' it mentions he's cousins of Brad Banks and CJ Jones. Probably doesn't matter a lot to a basketball player from Florida, but coming to Iowa worked out pretty well for his football cousins from Florida.

Yeah, that’s fairly well known (his family connection to Iowa).

So if you sign with an agent aren't you agreeing to give him complete control over the outcome? And if that's the case, isn't money 99.99% what will decide this? Cause the bigger the payout the more the agent makes.

Agent has complete control over nothing unless the principal (player) grants him/her authority. It gets more dicey if the agent has contracted with a minor.

I’m pretty sure about 15% of people in Florida are cousins of Brad and CJ.
