Oh, I have more firsthand stories about this that I cannot tell to a public audience. But it's dire over there.
But would argue Strickland lacked any clue or planning, guy just threw stuff at the wall. Nothing about it was strategic. He was running and gunning and at that volume, some things turned out ok (we forget the many that didn't), but that philosophy kind of fizzled out when Cohen and Rhett Hobart tried to replicate it without him. I believe it always would have, which is why Strickland left and ran back all the same plays and it kind of died out at Florida.
Creatives cannot effectively run an athletic department, and we rely too heavily on creative being the product. This rollout proves why... Wayne Madkin can't be the halo end-product, it has to be part of a bigger push. Imo, a full Adidas merch roll-out would have been it. And you then would have a case study to show Adidas/future merch partner about our enthusiasm. And also, you'd actually have people wearing the right logo to football games, which is a huge problem we have.
