Even if a player did get an injunction, I would be surprised if a coach was willing to risk the penalties if the case was ultimately decided in the SEC's favor. I don't see this as a hill Lane is willing to die on.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think it might be hard for a player to sue to block the conference from putting rules on the members of the conference. The SEC is placing no restrictions on the player, he can say he wants to go back to college and is free to go to any college that will sign him. The penalties are on the coach and the athletic program at the school.

Does this mean Carolina basketball loses 50% of its operating budget and Paris is suspended for half the season because he signed 3 players from European pro leagues? Or do the new SEC rules specifically apply to the NFL and not other pro leagues?
