There won't be any if its done away with properly and citizens are allowed to choose what they want to do with their money. How is life better by anyone not getting the most out of their retirement plan ? SS sucks, always has, always will. It has to because the government runs it. Also, that's the second time you've said we live in a democracy. We don't.
We live in a democracy. Democracies come in all sorts of forms including republics. What type of political system do you think America has?

In a democracy, the people directly participate in decision-making through voting on laws and policies. In contrast, a Democratic Republic is a representative form of government where elected officials represent the interests of the people and make decisions on their behalf.
While both systems aim to uphold the principles of equality and freedom, a Democratic Republic provides a system of checks and balances to ensure the protection of individual rights and prevent the concentration of power in the hands of a few.

It would be nice if people on here who so passionately argue 'aaaktchually, we are a Democratic Republic' would show the same level of vocal outrage when posters claim COMMUNISM! over a politician/policy/initiative.

I mean, yeah your post about the difference between a direct democracy and a representative democracy(creating a democratic republic structure) is is correct.
Its interesting to not see that level of passion when lazy dummies fling COMMIE! around or claim we are SOCIALISTS! just because we have a mixed market economy that balances business and individuals owning property, production, and profits, with various safety and competition regulations, public services, and social safety nets.

Where is the passion to nerd out and tell those people that we are aaaktchually a Democratic Republic?

My theory is that it's as simple-minded as republic = Republican and democracy = Democratic, so you see some folks REALLY come to care about the word "republic" and that's what the USA definitely is and should be.

I like watching football. I like enjoying life and doing things that make me happy. The Roman Republic and Empire lasted 1000 years in Rome and then another thousand in Constantinople. I'll take that amount longevity from a society that had bread and circuses. The $40 trillion in debt is troubling. Maybe stop voting for presidents who don't care about increasing the national debt.
I don't disagree with a thing you said.
