You simply cannot let the inmates run the place. I don't care who the player is. He should be gone. No exceptions. A HC and position coach should demand excellence and if attitude or effort are an issue then kick some arse and get rid of the problem. How can you have any kind of standard with that going on? This, if true, speaks to a larger cultural issue. But at the same time, there has to be communication both ways from the players through the position coaches. Players get down if they know a system will not work. The 3-3-5 sucked ***. Period. And why and how it took Ruhle 3 years to figure that out....well....you wonder.

2023 Rush D: 7th, Rushing 1st downs rushed allowed 7th. 2024: Rush D 7th. 1st Down rushes allowed: 1st. 3-3-5. Didn't suck it worked wonders. Matt Rhule tried to get his little fingers in it after it was successful in 2023. Now it sucked when Butler ran it. Butler was a bad DC who'd never run a 3-3-5 defense.

Essentially Matt Rhule tried to have Steve Spurrier run Tom Osborne's offense. It was never going to work.

It’s like that in academics here. USA is 4th in world in per capita education spending. Yet by most metrics our academic outcomes are 30/50 ish. Little accountability in that world and mountains of bloat and spending. Public universities are the epitome of bloat, over spending, over paying and lacking of accountability.

In simplest terms, we don’t have a lot of talent in our backyard. We have to be able to find and retain talent. In the era of NIL, you are paying for it. Most of these kids are smart enough to know they will not go onto the NFL, so maximize the next four years.

Nebraska football as you kids knew it. I grew up listening to Tagge, Ferragamo, Van Brownson and Humm chuck it to guys like Guy Ingalls and Frosty Anderson. Tom was a WCO guy to start out and they won a ton of games that way.

Following the big 12 championship in Kansas city where we filled the stadium in -10 degree weather he was all in. He was blown away by fan support and really thought, like the rest of us, that 2007 would be special. We were top 10 at one point, had a top 5 recruiting class, and one of the biggest marquee games of the decade at home against USC. Obviously a paper tiger but the collapse came so fast I don't buy he was looking to get out...compare that to Frost, Rhule who were/are just hanging on out of greed, and Bo who openly asked to be fired and publicly **** on fans.

Hard to build a culture when you're swapping coaches every 3-4 years

What kind of culture have we built the last decade or more. What I see is a culture of not developing players, poor coach evaluation when it comes to putting together a staff, overpaying for mediocrity, overpromising and underdelivering, and miraculously continuing to not choke to death on the balls of the 90s.

Malzahn turned around Auburn immediately (from 3-9 to 12-2), DeBoer did it at UW (From 4-8 to 11-2) Sonny Dykes at TCU went from 5-7 to 13-2. Cignetti's is unparalleled but quick turnarounds (within 1-3 years) are much easier these days with the portal and transfer rules.

Auburn received 13 transfers from USF this offseason. Penn State recorded 23 players from Iowa State this offseason. We act like receiving a bunch of players from the portal is the answer and I entirely disagree. Auburn is essentially USF this year now.. USF is mid. But because they’re wearing an Auburn uniform and their transfers they’ll magically be awesome. Teams may have had some quick success early on with this strategy but as things normalize and this whole thing develops we will see the roster turnover through the portal every season is not the answer.

With NIL and the transfer portal Coach contracts should be 1 or 2 years with heavy incentives but agents would never let that happen. Any school that tried that would be blacklisted from the next pool of available coaches...only schools like Indiana was could even try a no name on a responsible contract.

And Indiana was James Madison when they made the college football playoff. Winning now is so much about roster design and getting the specific players to meet that design. Cignetti identified a specific type of body and person...flexible hips, aggressive, intelligent...heavy RPO qb, massive offensive line and physical running. And he pushed the kids into the ground because he didn't give a **** at JM or Indiana if there was push back. Rhule did the opposite...put together a frankestein where entire position groups just fell apart and he wants the kids to feel loved, and positive, and become leaders or not.

The 3-3-5 gave us 2 of our best defenses of the last 20 years, and took players with no sacks and TFLs in their career and moved the unit to the upper tier of our conference......It didnt falter until Rhule decided that they need to run quarters coverage like Iowa, so he started meddling in Tony Whites scheme and hired a 55 year old NFL defensive backs coach who hadn't worked with an amateur athlete or called a defense in 15 years.

Rhule ruined the defense and micro managed 2 DCs out of town in the process.

I mean he could use the money to buy distractions from the fact he was a huge loser, and will be known as a huge loser in his community. How long can you sit on a sandy beach knowing you are a loser and not be bothered? For 99,9999% of human history humans didn't perform services to get rich, we are packaged to gain meaning from our jobs not just scam everybody. The worse thing that could happen to him is to walk away being overpaid while being hated for it, and being known as a loser. Bo is still a crotchety old man who lives in the past and holds grudges, Frost doesn't look healthy or happy, Riley went and tried to have one more adventure...for his sake I hope Rhule moves on and finds some success in genuine/authentic way and leaves the scamming behind. It has become him.

Nobody cared about Nebraska basketball...it was the worst power 4 program in the country for its existence by a mile. Hoiberg has been paid nearly 30 million. Last year, the team ran a very unique offensive and defensive system...but they ended the season basically playing .500 ball once teams figured out how to defend them...and they won two tournament games. Was it cool? Sure...should a guy given 30 million take a victory lap for beating Troy and Vanderbilt in the NCAA tourney, while screwing in up the final minutes of a chance to beat IOWA to go to the elite 8...probably not.

We will see if he can sustain it, it would be neat to make the tourney every year and it was neat to finally win a game in the tourney and not be the most pathetic program in history, but I am not sure it has that much to do with the coach and more to do with, it had to happen eventually.

But it is an accomplishment that had been done by every other team in the same competitive division before us. It was cool, and more of a relief for the guys to just get it done considering we were the last to do it. I am responding to fans acting like we have to keep a shiite football coach because our basketball coach did something every other team had done before us.
