Oh no. The Big10 championship tournament is part of that "I am an idiot" as I label PSU's schedule as weak.

If stupid people could simply learn to stay quiet, their level of stupidity would remain a mystery.

Oklahoma State wrestles Iowa, their duals tournament and a Big12 dual schedule and the Big12 tournament. That schedule is nowhere near as difficult as PSU's schedule, simply because PSU wrestles a Big10 dual tournament and the Big10 championships.

I think James will be a 74 still ... albeit with a pretty hard cut in 2028. But afterwards? 100% a 86. He has the same frame as his older brother (ND RB) who is listed at 215 on ND's website.

I would argue that anyone that has wins or close loses to anyone who has represented the US at the Sr level is a contender. Buchanan or Lilledah are examples. Being a contender doesn't mean being the favorite or even having decent odds.

"Don't hate Robideau" WTF. He wrestled a Lewan match vs Duke, 1-1 after SV. And it wasn't just that match. His biggest margin of victory at NCAAs was in 5-1 over the 26 seed.

If he wrestled Duke like he wrestled in this tourney and won 10-9 on a botched call, different story. But he didn't. And BTW he is demonstrating his ability to wrestle non-Lewan matches. He chooses otherwise.

We wouldn't tolerate this if he wore black and gold.

Putting in perspective for VHS: if he was on any other team their fans and Flo (for sure) maybe even willie would mention him in that same sentence a couple of times... am I right or am I right?

Lilledahl beat Lee in the US Open finals. That's a little different from a stand-alone win. Same with Buchanan beating Snyder at Final X and beating Zillmer in the US Open finals.

"Anyone" would include Downey, who has never been a contender other than in bar fights.

Duke has no wins at 74kg and no wins over the other top dogs at the weight yet he's considered a potential "contender" for '28.

James made the national team, anyone who does that within two years of an Olympic year has to be considered a contender.

Downey made a world team.

Might it be that the people on this board have had a few more years of interest in freestyle wrestling because of Cael’s decision from the beginning of his tenure that a strong RTC feeds the college team and the college team then feeds the RTC? Other than an occasional one off, both Iowa and OKSt have not had the depth of participation on the international scene that the NLWC has achieved. Cael has created a virtual perpetual motion machine. It’s given us a lot to watch and a lot to comment on. Other programs - at least up until now - not so much.

Over a few years, my interest in freestyle wrestling has grown.

Boyle was U17 eligible, a returning champ in Bassett didn't make the team, a PA kid won Gold for Puerto Rico (their first in decades).. There were a lot of reasons U17 didn't turn out as well as team USA hoped.

Not to mention that USA Wrestling might as well just openly say they hate the U17 team. They treat it as an afterthought.

Also, so much happens between age 17 & 20. In wrestling contexts, gotta believe the youngsters get 1000x more reps and way better partners in this window. And exposure to more and better coaches.

I feel like at this point... he beats Carr... who has looked off lately.

I think Nolf beats a very young Duke

Everybody is ruling Will Henckel out... He is nearly as decorated as Jayden and he is not undersized at 74?
I am not certain at too many positions in this lineup (especially if 5 for 5 happens) outside of Luke at 125. Barr at 197, Blaze will be somewhere, Mitch will be somewhere,

I feel like SVN and Rocco are good bets to be somewhere in the lineup
and I am sure that a Marisola brother will hold down the heavyweight position

I have no clue how 33, 41, 57, or 74 play out
and that could have ripple effects at 49, and 65

that leaves ONO, SCOOTER, DESMOND, KASAK, PJ, SEALY, JAYDEN, and HENCKEL all as question marks as to how or where they will fit into the lineup.

Think about those names and there is not a clear cut spot for any of them in the lineup. Cael is playing chess not checkers!
