I don't know how much money he collected from A&M and UNC, but his story certainly looks like one where the transfer portal hurt his career more than helped it (which, I'm sure is true the vast majority of the time). It's not like he wasn't getting quality playing time at LSU - he started 12 games for them his 2nd year. He appears to be a quality QB who would have benefitted from staying in the same system for a while. I hope it works out for him at Ga. Southern.

What “system for awhile”? Every school fired their coach right after he got there so a new system and someone he didn’t commit to play for was forced on him. In this case I can see why he jumped 4 times.

Most of us just call that "life." Had he stayed at LSU, he would have had to adjust once to Brian Kelly's new system, where he could have perhaps spent the next four years. He didn't have a crystal ball and neither do we, but with the benefit of hindsight, it's safe to say jumping to a new program every two years did not work out from a performance and playing time perspective. But, as I said, maybe A&M and UNC paid him so much money that he's now a 25 year old multi-millionaire and discussions about playing time and performance are moot. Now, he can just go out and have fun at Georgia Southern.

“Life” is also making wise decisions to move when people and new systems don’t fit you. I just don’t see how you could safely assume it would have worked if he stayed- the new coaches didn’t recruit him and he didn’t commit to the new coaches. Also - the reason the coaches he committed to are gone was out of his control. Theres so many elements that we both don’t know about that affects these decisions (could alter my opinion or yours) but From outside looking in, this is one where I have more of an understanding.

As I said, we don't have a crystal ball, so I don't think I assumed anything. Maybe it would have worked out to stay at LSU, maybe not. What we do know is that transferring didn't work out for him. Most of the time, it doesn't.
