This is Shelby vs Crest week, there is no other like it and I dont care who dont like it.
You can throw favorites out the window. you never know whats going to happen, there have been blow outs. there have been nail biters that come down to the final moments.. We dont like each other but at the end of the day I think we ALL respect what the other brings to the table .
There have been wars lately, a game where we jump out to a huge lead, then Mr Green goes all god mode and a few minutes later its 53-49. there was a game we beat them 51 to 20 something, then the year a couple years ago when the kid came in and started and they jumped on us early like we stole Rulz prized pig, and beat us soundly ,then for his pappy to get mad cause Hamrick came to town and licked the red off his candy took his spot and won a title
a 7 point game last year when at that time we probably should have gotten beat worse but like I said its Shelby and Crest, just never know.. Some times the team that is supposed to win doesnt, but its always a snot bubble fest...
family against family, friend against friend, neighbor against neighbor for bragging rights, Crest has had our number the last four, we gonna strap em up again Friday and see what happens, if we win we congratulate them talk trash for a year and move on, if they beat us, they talk trash for a year and remind us every waking moment that it is five in a row..
if you arent part of it, you really dont get it, you may think you do, but you dont.....
The time is nigh, a battle is nearly upon us, and it will make us both better.. we will beat the snot out of each other, then once complete take our battle wounds and take it out on the remaining teams left on our respective schedules
All others hear this you may get the best of Shelby or Crest on occasion, but if everyone was honest, when they see those names on the schedule, they are like OH NO, here they come... And here on preps we are going to tell you were beating your eyes shut, and more often than not we are and there aint a thing you can do about it, I know it, you know it, Chopper with his one eye, three teeth and unibrow knows it, he is too proud to admit it

It is more a gut feeling. I will not be surprised at all if Crest comes out on top. I watched the Shelby/KM game on tv and came up to your place and watched your game against Burns on Saturday(I swore off coming back up there because I had to come up there 4 times to watch Cramer get just absolutely obliterated the last 2 years we were in your conference, 3 of those times for basketball).
I just think Shelby’s offense might be a little ahead of where you guys are (with the new coach and new QB and new offense). However Majay will be the best player on the field and he could absolutely take over. Also you guys have won 5 in a row, and the odds say they are due to beat you and this is their best chance in a while. The gap was large last year with the all time great team you had and these teams are a lot more evenly matched this year with both of you guys having very strong defenses.
Good luck to both teams, and I will enjoy the show this week on the boards.

I have watched both teams. Shelby's offense is ahead of Crest based off KM defense and Burns defense but this is a game of matchups. Shelby will have to approach it the way Burns did with help over the top. Burns had some bad miscues where we ended up in man coverage. Barnes said it himself that when we went to man on man he went to Thompson. That was not by design on Burns part and ultimately put the nail in the coffin before the pick 6. Shelby will have to double him. If Shelby can get to Bell, they can win. If Crest can run the ball consistently then they will win. It's Crest vs Shelby so none of what I typed will happen the way I think. It is too unpredictable.
It definitely could have but fatigue and miscues got us before the turnovers. We did fine until we went to man on man vs Thompson. He is too fast. To our credit, Surratt was wide open multiple times and we simply overthrew it. To beat a good team you have to make those plays. I felt like our depth and players going down left and right killed us too. Crest was able to make plays at the end that we couldn't. I am a glass half full type so for me to see a tied game with 5-6 min left with the #2 5A defending Champion, it is a welcomed sight vs where we were last year. Quietly, people outside of this county in 4A used this as a measuring stick. Going toe to toe with a team like Crest got their attention, even in a loss.
I recall a time when you were just a spry young lad on here when GACO posters ruled this site. It has changed - absolutely. Way more CC posters without jobs allow plenty of website banter than GACO posters nowadays.
I sense worry, and you all are correct to feel it. I have seen both games (Shelby/ Crest). Ya'll have the least amount of weapons I have ever seen on a Crest sideline.... for both O & D. One of your biggest weapons is the kickoff man. Good luck to yall and Shelby. I've been to some of the biggest of these Shelby/Crest games. This year absolutely will not be one of them. Both sides keep selling week 1 as "good" wins INSIDE the county. Outside the county, optimism is up.

What we have is a new QB and that's an issue and we need to get coached up and we have a big oline that needs some work but we have 2 fantastic RB's and 6 receivers that will play and our defense is legit as it gets.

I was talking about the end result. We still lost, just like we do every other year. That was my point. For Burns, despite the preseason hype you often hear about it being Burns year, Burns being dangerous come playoff time etc.., the end results have stayed the same. There have been a few exception years in there where we have gotten a win against Shelby or Crest but not that many. Usually, the story is the same every year. We lose to the other county schools, win the games we are supposed to win against weaker competition and exit the playoffs in the second or third round. That is what I am tired of. If you guys want to be happy with just giving it a good try, just hanging tuff for 3 quarters, just getting close and always being runner up to the other county schools then that is great. That is your privilege. Rock on. But, I want more. I want Burns to WIN!

Nobody was happy we lost. That point was dead in the water the moment you typed it. You mentioned we have beat Crest and Shelby here and there. Had we won Saturday we would have been 3-3 in the last 6 meetings. We didn't. We have been more competitive against Crest in the last 10 years than we probably have in my lifetime. We went 15 years at one time before a Beam coached team ended the streak. He beat them once. Devine and staff beat them back to back years. Look at some of the teams the CC teams had. When we have had a load of talent we won the games we should have. We beat Shelby twice in the same year. We put them out of the playoffs just a few years ago. Anyone reading your post would assume we never win county games if they didn't know.
Go volunteer or apply and show them. I like the deflection on that topic. So from a fan perspective, what would you do? We all give the armchair QB opinion on here. We all make suggestions.
