Season Ticket Streak - Keep Going or Let Expire?

because it wasnt about rutgers anymore, it was about showcasing 2 players...there was no focus on defense which was Pikiells stength, yes the surrounding cast was questionable but thats on Pike for prior recruiting, not just a nil disaster which lands on him and the worst ad that rutgers has ever had. The team was a mess from the beginning. It lost to Kennesaw State..please..in fact it was losing in that game 40-15 before making a futile rally..it lost to Princeton..it was groundhog day every game..a team incapable of making stops because defense was not part of the philosophy. Do you think Pikiell was ever going to discipline his top 2 players..come on..that trickles down to the rest of the team. The revisionist history to blame it all on nil makes everyone FEEL better but its fake
I’m happy football is back, but regarding RU…..expect the worst. Low expectations are the key to happiness.
OP this is a question a lot of people are asking. I have had season tickets for over 40 years. Started with 6 in 84. We went from 6-24 in 94 back to 6 in 98 back up to 18 when Schiano came. Back to 6 in the ash era. Right now we are back up to 10.
We have friends in other groups that are experiencing the same thing People are dropping from their tailgates. Age and moving from the area are the biggest factors.
Lack of success on the field is a factor.
Personally I think this season is a make season for not only Schiano and his staff but for a lot of long time season ticket holders.
My money is on RU in 2026 I love the schedule and I think we have the offense to put some points up.
I hope the D improves enough to help the program take the next step.

Zero. I take the train from New York Penn to New Brunswick and walk to the stadium. Roundtrip is $34. Walk is two miles each way, about 35 minutes for me. I like to see what is changing on the College Ave campus.
but, now is he wrong? stating fact is not hate just like having more 1,2,3 draft picks for 3 years and never winning a conference title isn't hating, it's facts.

you can support the team and still go to games without having to buy season tickets and overpaying for the product.
I disagree with this. This fan base is solid for a team that has not been overly successful.

Attendance is a made up number inflated by nearly every school. The NCAA used to require average home attendance of 15,000 to keep FBS status but eliminated the rule in 2023 because the NCAA knew honest enforcement of it would have relegated the entire MAC down to the FCS.
Ticket sales revenue is a more objective measure than attendance. Ticket sales revenue is reviewed by auditors and certified by university leaders.

I used to wake up excited for home games. Now it feels like a chore or obligation. It’s just such a drag when you realize we don’t have the resources to compete with the elite programs and at the same time I can’t convince myself to accept the current state of college football. And it keeps getting worse - pro players are now coming back and entering the portal. The fans are supposed to pay for those dudes!!?

You've been a die hard for many years so good luck to you in NC. I'm curious what area you're going to. I retired last year and am looking at the area of Little River, SC / Calabash, NC. There's a lot of growth going on in that area.
A friend of mine moved to Calabash, she loves it there.
we are headed to Leland, which is just outside of Wilmington. Lots of growth there as well. We looked around a lot of different areas and the travel times back to the NY/NJ/PA area because I still have family in all 3. Wilmington area made a lot of sense.
If you need a realtor I have a great one. She sold my friend the Calabash house & has done well by us. I recommended her to other friends moving to the area and she found them a great place as well.
If you are considering that area and if "getting to the beach" matters to you, consider the driving/biking distances. In some of the towns, you have to go West then North or South to head East to the beach. Calabash is bounded on East by Bird Island. IMO, Leland and areas outside of Wilmington may be a better bet, particularly, if you want some more choices of restaurants, entertainment, etc. Also, that puts you closer to the ILM airport and I-40 if you want to head up to Raleigh for international flights.
I have mentioned to you, me and queen Shift lived in Wilmington in the early 1990s. Great area. Really like Wrightsville Beach a lot. IMO, as you go further south down Route 17, there are fewer and fewer amenities than in the Wilmington area. That may or may not matter to some people, but for people coming from NJ, it usually does. Myrtle Beach is a good distance from Calabash/Little River, and given the choice, I would want to be closer to Wilmington than MB. UNC Wilmington is a beautiful campus. Wilmington area is also helped in that there are two major Northeast employers -GE Aerospace and Corning, Inc. I'm sure it has grown a lot more, but our memories of driving down Route 17 to Myrtle Beach were a lot of churches and boiled peanut stands. There is actually an unincorporated area outside of Bolivia, NC named Half Hell!

Thanks for the realtor offer and thanks to Knight Shift for the info. I'm looking at that specific area because a family member is moving there. My sister in law has a high school friend from NJ who is now a realtor outside Myrtle Beach and has been sending listings so I'll be using her. And I agree the Wilmington area is a better choice than MB but I have no intention of being too close to MB.
Just a point, and don't want to start a family feud. A realtor in the Myrtle Beach area may not have a good handle or an inside track on the Wilmington market. They are far apart and very different markets.
Years ago, I used my long time realtor from South Monmouth to purchase a home in North Monmouth, and things were missed because he did not understand the way things were done in the town/area, and the bigger thing was we bought a home on a street that was very flood prone. We sold after Irene, and thankfully, we got out before Sandy, because the first floor was under 2 feet of water in that home.
The other thing, in an active market, some realtors will have the inside track on upcoming listings, and in hot markets, many homes are sold before they are officially listed. This just happened with a house across the street from our vacation home in Arizona. Talked to my neighbor, and he said that before the home was officially put on the MLS and Zillow, it was sold, with 3 offers over asking price.
Wilmington has some distinct areas and neighborhoods. Traffic will never be nearly as bad as it is in NJ, but a realtor who knows the neighborhoods is worth retaining.
The OGs from the 70s/80s are starting to fizzle out. They have seen it all. They were finally rewarded in the second half of the 2000s.
2005/2006 created a new generation of fans, and there is a long tail of support from just a couple good seasons. 2006 and 2012 were fun seasons and should have ended in a BCS bowl (of course both failed to actually make one). But a season like that every 5-10 years helps keep the fans engaged.
It’s now been a long drought since a season like that. Most would be happy with something like Iowa/Minnesota/Illinois- some ups and downs but the stars align for New Year’s Day bowl every 5-10 years.

I feel exactly like OP. 32 yr season tickets, since 1995. Attended every home game 2004 to each 2017 season. Just 2 of original group left. Section 128. Stadium atmosphere not the same since 2015, Flood last season. Many new faces each game i think ticket brokers took over. Long time fans left due to Ash & Covid yr. Blue Lot pass always high resale,$150+ . Only Penn state Ohio state and Michigsn get me over faces value on seats. The 4 hr game and another hour exiting Blue Lot doesnt help either. Another yr though......I do love Greg
Understood. I'm actually looking in the area of the NC/SC state line and this realtor normally does cover that area. As far as traffic concerns, it's only a matter of time before the entire coast of the Carolinas is developed. Long time residents of the Little River, SC area have been complaining about the influx of northerners and traffic being generated for a few years now. There's no escaping it.
I remember shopping for a car somewhere in Columbus County ( I think it was Whiteville, a bit from the coast)--it was desolate out there, and pretty much that way down the entire coast. One of my colleagues in the office says that the Leland area is booming and quite busy now.
