The 2026 U20 World Championships take place on 8/16 through 8/23 at Bratislava, Slovakia. Please use this thread for all pre-tournament, in-tournament, and post-tournament discussion. The USA MFS team includes PSU's Jayden James, as well as two wrestlers from PA (Aaron Seidel and Bo Bassett)...

Not tired. Just young , dumb, arrogant mistakes. Too comfortable in overhook, watched the clock at the end.

So many young kids get away with hanging in a whizzer but it's not gonna work against the best.

Yes he did. That was brutal.

I will have to watch it again but it almost looked like James might have gotten an exposure just before he gave up the final 2. Obviously wish he still had a challenge so a closer look could have been taken. In any event, great match, real tough loss but give him some time in that PSU room and he’s going to be nearly unstoppable imo.

That was the first real disappointing moment of the tournament so far. Jayden just didn't wrestle smart at the end. It is a definite bummer, and I feel for him, but, as Corby said, this does not change my opinion of him in the slightest. I look forward to his future with PSU, and on the world stage.

I wrote about Yoshida's underhook prior to the match along with his conditioning. Unfortunately, both came back to bite Jayden. I am confused, though, that in that last sequence Jayden let go of his grip on Yoshida's leg to go to the chest wrap. It looked like keeping his grip was the better option at that time.

James was dominant with an underhook the entire tournament yet didn't fight for it at all. Gave up 9 points out of the whizzer position/Yoshida underhook.

He also seemed to give up the second to last two trying to sneak a duck under instead of giving up a 1. It wasn't the best tactical showing. He's slick as hell, but needs better game planning and in match poise.

He won U17 last year and he's 17 right now, so I think he actually has 2 more years U20.

Right now it's looking like Boyle is going to be the one that every heavy should be worried about.

Perentin wins twice 11-0 and he was up 10-0 and got the pin to make the Bronze match

That pin by Perentin was brutal. Walks an arm bar around the head and then his drops far arm to catch the ankle and bend the guy like he was working a bow and arrow. I doubt many freestyle guys encounter such moves in their training.

Can’t see him winning 174 next year, just because I don’t think he’ll be big enough.

I realize it must be tough to get on off the rack with an unusual body size but Bruce Baumgartner has always looked "sloppy" in a suit.

Things that surprised me throughout the tournament.

How awful the officiating was on days with both Greco and Womens.

The difference in replay between the younger guy and DJ Slow

Togoev's lack of any conditioning at all.

James' strategy in the finals.

Boyle's strength.

Taina Fernandez running into issues against strong hips.

The gap between some of Japanese women and the field Katsume and Onishi especially
