Who were your biggest surprises & disappointments week 1? Shout out regardless of the outcome to all the teams who played this week & didn’t forfeit. Surprise? King. Great win. I love the Vikes but I give the credit. Disappointment? I have to say Argo. Des Plaines Valley News talked them up. A QB next coming of Tom Tomlinson & a RB who played at 2 Catholic Schools before transferring to Argo. Well I can see why he’s no longer at the Private schools & the QB & rest of team a no show

King over St. Lawrence has to be the biggest surprise of the week. It's an early upset of the year candidate.
Decent weekend for the SWSC going 7-2. Losses to the likes of GBW and SHG by small margins. Wins over teams like BR, 'Brook, and '25 5A semifinalist Oak Forest.
Bolingbrook, in my eyes, was the biggest disappointment.
I love the Brook former Illini 8 & Sica member. I thought the score would be close
No issues calling out the coach or paper but you can’t post negative stuff about a kid.
Surprised at the final of the Bolingbrook game. Not surprised they lost because HF is legit but stunned they were shut out and by a wide margin with the Offense they have.
Definitely surprised at King beating Laurence. I thought they would clock them.
Surprised Nazerth lost as badly as they did to ICC as they also had numerous D1 players and a transfer QB who was supposed to be legit.
Surprised BR lost to LWE. Surprised that cramps kept the nations #1 ranked DE out of the whole second half.
Dissapointed in MCs performance, especially the penalties and lack of effort all around on Offense. Felt like the 1999 game when they were ranked #1 by everyone and got their butts kicked by JCA in week 1.

Surprised that Rice lost. Disappointed but not surprised that Carmel lost. Will Rice beat ESL? I don't know. Hard to call.
Surprised: All 4 Plainfield's won. Bet that has never happened, and may not happen ever again.
Disappoitments: Did every Naperville / Aurora school lose? I know, NC, NN, NV, WV, and MV all lost. West and East Aurora too. Marmion with a close loss to a WI. Looks like Aurora Christian got a W!

Mt. Carmel losing after being touted as the next coming of the Crimson Tide by all of the Chicago media. Having the entire team already set for college selection as well as the trainers has to be the number one surprise. Disappointment….only if you support the Caravan. Coach Lynch needs to assemble the All-Star cast and remind them they still have a TEAM to play for this year. The charter flight ride back to Chicago was memorable for these young men I am sure. The way it all went down is especially unique. Does that change the fact MC is still the favorite in 8A…no. The coaching staff won’t let this attitude fester for long. Respect to the program will be reinstated no doubt. Congrats to ESL for doing the impossible. Go Flyers.

Coming off of semi final appearance, D1 talent on the team, went into LWE territory and got an extremely talented freshman, King is just not a team I would expect them to ever lose too. Congrats to King!

I think that PR is young too, or at least inexperienced. I think that FVC is going to be down this year.
Really bad football being played the further west into the suburbs you go. If one of those privates would figure it out they’d have a pretty good opportunity to gobble up all the talented football players.
People aren’t as loyal to their private school like they use to and if one of these privates would get good a lot of the local kids would go to that one school.
There are Aurora kids go to Naz, St Francis, Benet, MC….bc Aurora football doesn’t have a good option right now.
Surprised Rice lost. Kind of surprised MC lost by so much. Extremely surprised how disheveled both teams looked.
I thought Yorkville Christian was going to figure out the football aspect of things and maybe they will someday.
Aurora kids also go to the Oswego's.
I don’t know what to think of that place. My hunch is they are content being a basketball school.
I think they are more a wrestling school and have managed to bring in a lot of Yorkville and Oswego kids to that program.
I thought i read they were starting football & or Timothy Christian was. Kankakee Trinity started football & a school out by where Edgy lives was supposed to start football but it didn’t last or fell thru. Crossroads Christian plays football but they aren’t IHSA I don’t think
