Mark Pope deserves a massive "atta boy." Well done, coach.

Do you really believe everything that Pitino says? He already has offers for juniors and seniors in high school right now. Also, Mark Pope DEFINITELY cares about high school recruiting. He just hasn't been very successful at it yet.
The HS players that have an impact on the game is very small. The Anthony davis's and Zion's are far apart and few in between. I would rather have a 22 year old experienced 3 star player than a freshman 5 star

I think B+ is still being very friendly for him as a recruiter. He still hasn't shown an ability to land top high school talent.
my thoughts exactly. pope deserves all the credit for building a roster that can compete at the highest level next year but i felt he also needed to have a very good summer landing some HS guys to not be so dependent on the portal and last minute grabs.

Im fine with mostly getting talent from the portal, especially going forward with the 5 for 5. High school recruits no longer have the same value, outside of the top few guys and I don’t trust Pope to get many of those, personally.

I didn't say I "know" anything. I made what I thought was a pretty elementary standard deduction. It isn't a hard deduction if you are objective.
A standard deduction could be made that when some states something in an absolute manner that that person “knows”. I simply asked a simple question based on my objectively reasoned position that there are actually other options that could have been in play other than the ONE you stated in an absolute manner.

I've (for a very long time now) had it in my head that if Saul started supporting Pope, you would know Pope has done a hell of a job.

The talent is there. If Pope has the coaching chops, this is going to be a great year for us.

Big ups to Pope for being able to pay more than 99% of D1 to put together a basketball team, and then subsequently landing good, highly paid players. Unbelievable job.

Yep, big ups for playing ball in the current landscape getting it done regardless. Whatever means he used doesn’t matter to those want to win and don’t care about the PR nonsense. If he used an advanced sales pitch or a big fat check idc. Top portal class. That’s worth being happy about.

The part im most impressed with is how he convinced the money people to keep giving him more money after last year to use on these runaway basketball payments.

Adding Mitchell means everyone thought we were done spending, then he had to convince someone to give him enough to outbid everyone on one final sought after player.
There was never a money problem. There was never a JMI problem.

Any problems, or successes, were totally on Pope.

That’s a pretty intolerant take considering the company you’re in. No room for fans to walk it back when Pope suddenly shows signs? He was on a respirator until just a couple of months ago. Your hate is at the galactic level, are you related to Pope?
Galactic level? Dramatic much?

Those like SoS have been very disrespectful and insufferable to those who disagree with them. Many of us said we'd gladly call them out when they were proven wrong and they were good with that. So here we are.

That's how you get the Milan Monchdyfftvches and Mark Mitchells. I think Mark Pope might finally be learning that the name on the front of the jersey doesn't matter as much anymore.

It's not some mystery dude, lol. We paid out the ***. That's why we got Momcilovic and Mitchell.

I mean, he's gotta win and win big now. But there's no hidden mystery as to why we got those dudes. C'mon.

I used to say Pope is a B+ recruiter. After the bad start to the off-season, I reneged my claim. I think Pope not only deserves the “attaboy” but also some respect for another top portal class. In the new era of college basketball where portal is so important, he has produced the best of his three classes. All three were top 10 according to 247Sports IIRC. Respect to Pope and I was wrong for doubting his recruiting this offseason.
Recruiting? LMAO, he's paying the guys he gets an unbelievable amount of money to come play for him, because he's such a lousy recruiter. He's once again gonna have the most expensive roster in the country, and still won't win crap. Did he really pay 6 million dollars for Mark Mitchell? Ha ha.

Lousy recruiter. #1 recruiting class from the portal. I guess being a good recruiter doesn’t matter so much anymore.

Big difference in recruiting them and buying them.
Is there really that big of a difference? Difference to whom? I thought the reason us fans cared about recruiting is we want good players. So if something other than recruiting is getting those players, shouldn’t we be glad for that? I don’t understand where the gripe is.

Now I remember why I blocked you. You’re unreasonable, irrational, and overly vindictive. You don’t have a monopoly on fanhood. Grow up. Nothing hs been proven yet, just some positive news. Let’s “let the season play out” before you start taking scalps.

I am just glad we get to see what Pope can do with a title contending roster. If he make a deep run, it will prove he can be a dependable coach assuming he can continue to get talent.

If we look like last year, the decision to move on becomes more clear.

Thinking HAM is a Razorback fan If so, I think he has a leg to stand on here. Pretty common knowledge none of their players accepted a penny to play for them. They’re all only on scholarship.

He gets kudos, but this team needs to show me it can defend. We can't win shootouts every night, but a top 30 defense paired with what we'll be able to do on offense is a fun prospect.

Pope worked his butt off to get Moreno back, bring in Milan, and finally add Mitchell.

I'm all for giving credit where credit is due. Pope landed two top 5 portal players and brought back a potential first rounder in Moreno. He worked really hard to make it happen, and his hard work should be acknowledged.

This Kentucky team has a legit chance to compete for a Final Four.

Let's get behind Pope and the Cats this year and see what happens.

Go Kentucky! Let's hang #9!

Just about every single one of the insufferable a-holes checked in to give Pope their approval as if Pope would spit on any of them if they were on fire. The good thing is that they are all nobodies that didn't accomplish a single thing for months but get their daily dose of internet dopamine. I guess we will have to wait until the first loss to hear from any of these queens, hear from the OP about how we should have kept Calipari, etc. (3rd grade stuff), but every one of them will turn on him......Again, they are crybabies that he doesn't care about, so let them be fairweather clowns and scratch their daily itch to act like spoiled brats. Even in the original thread, the insufferable OP gave him an "adda boy" like he's some superior Cat giving him a pat on the head. LOL at the garbage show.

The good news? 99.9 percent of UK's overall fans don't act like petulant jerks that have to be catered to.
