But wait - college basketball blueblood KANSAS is looking to add him?!?

It’s weird tho. Accordingly to a few vocal and very opinionated people on this board - he was utter garbage and no high major team would EVER consider adding him even as a backup?!?!!

It’s almost as if those people have absolutely no idea what they are talking about 🤔

Guess being a Jayhawk backup , if he gets the call, is a good thing for him compared to coming off the bench at Rutgers .
Going into his fifth year I would have thought he'd look for a program he had a chance to be a starter . But a shot at the NC with Kansas might be better, even if on the bench .

if I was him - Kansas would be a no brainer.

As much as I supported him - the problem was that he wasn’t big 10 starter material (so people sh%t on him for that - but it wasn’t his fault that RU had no better options) .

so he’s already played major minutes/ started on a crappy team. Why go to another crappy team just to do the same? Why NOT go to a team with hopes of actually accomplishing something?!?

good for him if it happens.

people who argued he wasn’t high major quality as a depth/ back up big didn’t know what they were talking about . Just the fact that Kansas is even considering him proves that.

LOL, spouting off on a rumor thinking it legitimizes anything. :ROFLMAO:

Let me know when he signs there. If it was legit interest there would be more chatter about it on their board. Currently one thread with single digit posts.

the only “agenda” I am pushing is that Ogbole was unfairly criticized by some here because he was pushed into a position he wasn’t qualified for (a starting center in the big 10). It wasnt his fault that pike couldn’t get someone better. However , with that said, the kid had the size and enough ability to be a serviceable reserve (deep reserve on a better team) big at this level.

I think the above is an opinion (and the correct opinion)

however if the above somehow constitutes an “agenda” then consider me guilty

He's a 5 minute or less guy at this level, that's what a deep reserve is and that is what many said. However, you had people claiming he was good enough as the starter here or can be a good #2 on another team. That's where the backlash came from.

couldn't read the response but to think YOU'RE the one with an agenda regarding him? LOL.
I just hope he lands somewhere with a staff that has some clue about how to use and develop a big man so he gets a good shot.

He’s not developing much more. He started too late and isn’t catching up. Nothing to do with coaching at that point. That being said, he can probably do what he does at some professional level somewhere. His size will get him opportunities.

yet you’re responding to my posts and I never made such a claim in this thread or the previous threads were people were sh#ting on him.

Bottom line is that there were a few vocal posters saying the kid was an absolute piece of sh#t and didn’t deserve to play a single minute at this level

those people were wrong then and they are wrong now.

yes the kid is limited. But he has tremendous size and enough skills to be a reserve at this level (where a serviceable big men is a hot commodity). That’s all I’ve ever said.

If he was still on team - (1) we would have taken one less center but (2) there would be a legit discussion about how much time and the respective roles/ situations of the back up centers behind the kid from v tech.

I disagree and agree. He certainly showed a few times how dominant he could be.. his stats got better each season. He only took 3 shots per game making 2.2 of them for 60%. In those 19 mins per game he also grabbed 6 rebounds. .9 Turnovers and 1.9 fouls.

His last 5 games he went 20 of 27 from the field for 74% shooting. averaged 8.4 points and 5 rebounds . In just 23.6 mins (4.5 more per game)

I would argue that in this guard oriented mindset, the coaches did not utilize him enough in a league that has much more of a big man mindset.

Was/is he a stud? No. But to your point physically yes and that will be an asset somewhere.

BUT, IMHO he didn't SUCK like so many here made out to be. I wish him well as I do us.

you are right here. He improved to a point where he could be a serviceable backup (10-15 minutes) on an average power conference team. He clearly can’t be a starter on any power conference team that has ambitions to be any good, but don’t think anybody has ever said that.

LOL, you keep pushing the this level nonsense, he needs to drop down so he can play real minutes at a level suitable for him in his final season. Not that hard to understand.

He could start and would be an force in America East or the Patriot League yet would probably foul out most games.

He basically won us the UNLV game and did improve each year. So there’s some talent.

Also think he’d foul out every game if he ever got mega minutes anywhere.

Perfectly fine as a back up.
Not at a high major. FDU/Siena kind of backup

some of you guys are nuts. If Baye Fall was picked up by a MWC team, Ogbole has plenty of options (even this late) and will land somewhere if that’s what he wants (vs playing abroad). That simple.
Not your point, but how the hell did another team take a shot on Baye Fall ? He cannot play.

Fresno State now, like Rutgers,Kansas St & Arkansas before, looked on him thinking: you can't teach someone to be tall , buy maybe be able to teach him how to use that height to give us an advantage.
Ogbole has the size that programs will want and he'll find a place to land because though he didn't ser rgw world on fire at Rutgers he did show some promise as a player

Not sure why the NCAA granted 5 years of eligibility for the 4 classes before the class of 2022 and all the classes after. Seems completely arbitrary and unfair to the class of 2022. The class of 2022 still has the issue that many schools have used all their roster spots before the ruling giving the class of 2022 one more year. Sadly Rutgers Basketball doesn’t have any roster spots to go after any of the available 5th year players.

Even if Pike had a spot, would they have the funds needed?

Given the number of players likely now eligible for a 5th year and the limited number of spots available, supply and demand would suggest that schools could pick up some very talented veteran players at some bargain basement prices. For Rutgers this is not an option because as you note, they likely don’t have any NIL left at all along with not having any roster spots.

Not sure that's reality, other schools with spots have money to burn unlike Rutgers.
