I know that this is supposed to be simple and fun, but I'd really like to see the predicted wins for these guys and gals. Some have Minnesota as the W that we are also most likely to lose, and I'll just say that if we lose that game, we aren't touching 6-7 wins

Of course not who the 17 thinks we’ll be better than 6 sec teams defensively
Minnesota
Minnesota
Auburn

wins (Monroe, minn, mizzu, tech, vandy, and then at least one between bama,ou, and OM for the elusive upset)

This was last years. 5 out of the 10 had 5 wins with the rest 4 (and BFW saying 6)

They’re around the team a bit more than the rest of us so maybe give them a little credit for it.

Well to be clear, 4-8 is what the record probably should have been. The full sample size of the season very obviously illustrated the ASU game as a fluke.

I think a good indicator is to take all these predictions from mostly lifelong MSU fans, take the average, take one win away and add one loss, and you’ll get a pretty objective outlook.

Average this year is 6.3-5.7 (rounds to 6-6). So, I’ll stick with 5-7 as the most likely outcome.

ASU game was a fluke, got it. You’ve only told us 700 times.

We were a bit lucky to win. But I don’t know that I’d say it was a fluke. We made a play. Same as other teams made plays to beat us. I hate the “should have” game. Your record is the record you deserve.

What would have felt like a fluke is playing ASU, Tenn, Florida and Texas like we did and losing them all.

Why are you thinking we are most likely to loose?. We are more talented than them. They struggled with teams last season that were more talented or equal than them. They have one player on defense that’s good. One.. they have a very slow QB who doesn’t like pressure. They don’t have the WRs to match up with our corners. A lot of you all are underselling our DL. It’s going to be solid.
They don’t have the talent on defense or speed to stop us. Think of like this. Minn is less talented than the ASU team we beat last season.

Only an MSU fan(supposedly) would go out of their way to discredit a win.. just stupid.. in each game we made plays to win. Don’t discredit the wins just because you don’t like the coach

I don't think the Arizona State game was a fluke. I think it was a 5-7 SEC team playing at home against an 8-4 Big 12 team who finished unranked, and you would expect such a matchup to go down to the wire.
Within the context of this discussion, I think it was fluke-ish in the sense that our effort and execution in that game was really not ever duplicated again for the rest of the season (especially defensively).

AND because, in spite of the above, we were still thoroughly outplayed for most of the game, but won due to one of the most comically egregious blown coverages ever seen on a college football field.

Neither of those two things has to do with the relative strength or skill level of the two teams coming into the game.

Point is that if you predicted 4-8 for last season, and we were 5-7 because of that ASU surprise win….I’d consider you as someone that had us pegged pretty well in the preseason.

Exactly what has anyone seen that makes us think we'll be a winner?
We have improved the roster, we were able to retain our best players. Significantly upgraded coaching staff. This isn’t remotely close to what we rolled out with last year and that team could have won 8 games.

Those last two questions are confusing, but 3 different writers picked Alabama. ARe they saying we might beat Bama, or that they are picking us to beat Bama abd we will lose anyway?

My guess is that he wanted to simply ask… who do you think we’ll upset this year? However, since essentially any W on our schedule would technically be considered an upset based on Vegas lines, he had to figure out a different way to word it.
