Football Western Foothills 4A/5A - Week 1

Seemed like an interesting game with Maiden. I shoulda went. Well it’s official- Lowest scoring game ever attended by this old Burke man

NL 7 WL 0 Of there was a lower one I can’t remember. Bless their hearts they were playing without Agee. Game shoulda been at least 17 to 0. Not sure how they’ll do in conference as far as getting more wins than last year. Some good complete passes tonight for North but against a better pass defense it might be dismal in the games ahead, we’ll see. North had a stingy stubborn defense tonight, not sure how to gage it against WL.

Can't believe I just watched a game where the other team's defense outscored Maiden's offense 20-0. Can't believe I just watched a game where Maiden allowed THREE pick-sixes. Both of those things have to be historical firsts without a doubt. Hope #22 is okay. Maiden can ill afford to lose any quality player.

Can't believe I just watched a game where the other team's defense outscored Maiden's offense 20-0. Can't believe I just watched a game where Maiden allowed THREE pick-sixes. Both of those things have to be historical firsts without a doubt. Hope #22 is okay. Maiden can ill afford to lose any quality player.

He will ultimately be ok. I believe it was a concussion.

Yeah yeah. Yall soak it up and hate all you can. I'll say this...we score those two TDs when we were 1 yd out each time, then the scoreboard would have read 24-17 Maiden in the 4th. Then we aren't trying to throw the ball all over town to catch up and throwing pick-6s. I'm not saying we would have won, but it would have been a different ballgame completely.

That being said. Lincolnton has a damn good ball team and capitalized when they needed to. A win is a win is a win, congrats to the Wolves. We are now tied back up in the all time series.

We are definitely having some violent growing pains, but I'm very optimistic.

Good luck to you mangy dogs, stay healthy, and we're coming to lay it on you next year.

We didn’t have the ball the whole entire 3rd quarter!
Our 2nd series on Offense in the 4th Quarter we had “5” penalties in a row……. Terrible

our defense is legit! We haven’t given up a TD yet offensively! Accept 2-point Conversion off a blocked punt! In both scrimmages we didn’t give up an offensively TD! South Point scored once! But it was haunted by illegal chop block on a 2nd level defender on the 10th play of the 10 & 10 plays!

we had 5 Interceptions tonight!

Messiah Thompson is the real deal! 3 int, 2 pick 6’s,
1 Receiving TD

Also my source, Told me the Wolves haven’t had a full practice in 2 weeks outside…..
Heat restrictions….. was in the gym all week this past week. Or got place under a shade trees without equipment….

So I’ll take this win. Cooler weather on the way.

So every team now has a light show In Lincoln county? WL had one last night we’ll just one. Only light show I I saw was at North 2 years ago.

Looking like next weeks NL/ Lincolnton match will be like the before Bazzel years. No flash last night in running game but they did just enough to win. Bout 3 long complete passes. North does have a big ole boy up front on D that’ll eat up some blocks. Just hoping it’s not like that West Iredell EB game SMH, doubt I’ll be there. Pray for a safe game for both fellers

Agreed. Cool weather this week should solve some of that. Lotsa cramps on both sides. Thompson was the same guy The East Lincoln kid saw last week!

It's a pretty good night when you overshadow Mayfield's loud first quarter pick 6 and normal play all over the field! The dude is big, but danged fast, too

The entire defense deserves accolades. The offense looked good in fits and sputters, and should be fine.

I'm not a doctor or any inside information but I would say he's back for the conference opener against North Lincoln in 2 weeks.

He did not. I wouldn't have put him in even if he was feeling somewhat ok. Needs more time to heal. Didnt need him but hate he didnt get to play against a county team for his senior year. If Agee was 100% and played score prob been 21 -0. They were eaten alive with flags last night.

North is prob a track star or 2 short from finishing above .500 this year. Speed was not a factor last night for either team. Lincolton game will tell us what kinda calibure team they are.

I saw that old dawg over there pacing around with 5 minutes to go! Ole Lincolnton's nerves was shot…he was chewing at his paws!🫵

Entertaining game! Griz….it always is when these two match up. Congrats to those wolfs ….i enjoyed every minute of it.

Asheville!…here we come….cant wait!

My dear friend, Maiden has one of the nicest looking and least recognized stadiums in the western piedmont, and their acoustics are great too; but I have never been so glad to get out of a football facility in all my life.
You mentioned nerves, they were done-and-frayed when I got there.

Good luck against the Rockets. It’s an easy drive.

*Side note: Don’t have any idea of who the public address person is there, but knowing he must be a staunch blue devil, wanted to say many props to him for his ability to maintain a calm.

*Side note: Don’t have any idea of who the public address person is there, but knowing he must be a staunch blue devil, wanted to say many props to him for his ability to maintain a calm.

Those acoustics were enabled by a terribly impressive sound system. Can't hide money! Such an improvement over the old layout, with the speakers on the visitor side. It is a nice campus all-around.

I have questions, though, about the two light poles in the front parking lot. They have each been blinking for several years, now. Whats up with those?
