I honestly don’t think the OC is as big of a deal as some make it. Not on Iowa staff. Lester is better than BF but come on. They had Greg Davis as well. I think the head coach is more important here.

Depends what you are meaning by the OC isn’t a bit deal. If ole Kirk is going to limit what the Offense is allowed to do, I would agree it doesn’t matter much who the OC is. If Kirk stays out of it, then it matters. But I do believe Kirk allowed more breathing room than former OC’s and Brian still couldn’t get anything done.

All KF OC's have had significant autonomy.

Lester’s even said, KF is rarely in his headset during games

In the respect that KF built the program around strong D and ST, yes the head coach is more important. That would be obvious

I could be wrong but I thought I’ve read/heard multiple times that Ken O’Keefe was not allowed to run his offense the way he did in DII when he was the head coach there.

Just because he’s not in his headset during a game doesn’t mean he hasn’t told him the way the game will be called leading up to game day.

What I replied to in post #2.

That BF would still be OC had Beth not fired him
I don’t know. Something was bound to change. The fan base probably would have been in full revolt had Brian survived beyond 2023. My guess is even Kirk would have felt enough pressure to make a change after that season.

But, as to the OP and how it was worded: Yes, I agree. Had “KF had his way” I have no doubt Brian would still be here as OC.

That’s what I meant. I think he used to kind of dictate. Seems like he is doing that less with Lester. Heck maybe Lester is in the running for head coach when KF retires. I like him. I was skeptical at first because of Greg Davis and BF and so on. But I like Lester he seems good so far.

You are correct. KF has hamstrung ALL of his OCs - except Tim Lester...

Kirk hiring Brian will probably turn out to be a very good thing. It forced his hand to hire the right OC, and give him the ropes. Beth made that happen. Play good O, or BF is gone... Lester is the man. It is his show, with the least amount of influence from KF than any OC at Iowa has had.

How many times do people have to tell you, you have no way of knowing that?

(And even if you did, you would have no point).

Your insistence on smearing a hall of fame coach continues to make you look beyond silly

Not to mention the continual staining of the real legend of Duke Slater when he keeps opening his pie hole on here.

So says the Press-Citizen article you can read here: https://www.desmoinesregister.com/s...true&gca-epti=undefined&gca-ft=0&gca-ds=sophi

And to think that, if KF had his way, Brian would still be the OC and QB coach. Amazing.
Brian was a blind spot, but you still have to give a ton of credit to Kirk for making the right hires after he was removed to lift this offense back to respectability. This story is still being written, but IMO, Lester is the best offensive coordinator Kirk has ever had and it probably isn't even close.

Kirk realizes how important the passing game is, and I give him credit for changing with the times.

Every single time. You come on here to defend every decision of Kirk and or the university…. Is there anything you disagree with or are you seriously a university burner account?? It’s very suspicious…

Lester is 10x the playcaller than Brian. Do you think Brian would have practiced and called a reverse pass to the QB grono in the USC game, iirc? no effing way.

Lester played QB, has been an OC, HC, and maybe his year at Green Bay analyzing the defensive side there might have really helped him more.

And all Lester has to be is "Good" as if the hawks have their normal great defense and very good to great special teams then even a 60th ranked offense that is decently balanced and scores about 30-35 pts a game on avg is going to make Iowa a very strong team

And what actual reasons do you say she is garbage?
OiT (2025):

“I am not going to say she hates men or men playing sports, but I will say she likes women and women’s sports better IE caitlin and soccer”

“…she is responsible for sitting back and letting Iowa football die and not caring , not sure if that’s cuz her sexual preference“

dude is off his rocker.

Do you recall seeing KF's lips moving much when shown in between plays, or when at the games?

Pretty simple
So that’s how you came to the conclusion that KF has not interfered with any of his OCs running of the offense? Because you didn’t see his lips moving during the game?
