Not changing the subject - your team literally did the same thing last year with Gronowski. Hopefully Colandrea doesn’t crap his pants like Gronowski did against Iowa State … Ames what a tough place to play

Idk if we see the same defense this year. What they played last year worked because of pieces. Sam was the best perimeter defender we had, and it wasn’t even close.

Nebraska will play a very similar defense to last season. I'm kinda opposite from you, I see it as a system defense more than individual pieces. As long as they get buy in and understanding from whoever's on the floor, it's all about taking away what the other team wants to do.

Yep .OPs right you still need good defenders but as you say I think Nate’s defense setup is more a system defense. It doesn’t take a great player to help double the baseline it just take a by in by that player so he is in that spot at a certain point regardless of what he wants to do himself.

I think both of you are correct. The defensive system will remain the same. Double team on the post and force to the baseline. But Sammy My Boy had a special knack for being in the right place at the right time or being able to anticipate the ball movement and being a touch quicker to where he needed to be. He also had good hands and didn't foul much down low. Will NU be able to replace that, even with total buy in from the entire team?

I see Jacobsen filling Sam's "effort/tough as nails/always in the right spot" role this year. But no, I don't think we can totally replace Sam. We'll miss him a lot.

I doubted Sam until well until his Senior season. He was such a huge part of that team. I changed to think he may very well be irreplaceable with just one guy. He was clutch as hell, also. If he was 6” taller he’d have been a lottery pick (imo)

Thought Sam was a hustle- program guy until his junior year. Better athlete than most give credit for- fairly jacked. Really good at getting position to rebound against much bigger guys. Great hustle, excelled at anticipating passes and where the ball would be. Finally got some confidence to take those wide open shots and made more his last year and don’t leave him around the rim- he will take it home and use the backside to prevent against shot blocks. I’m a huge fan. Jacobsen is maybe 60 percent of Sam- not as good on defense, not as high basketball IQ and positioning. Sam is a unique piece thst will take 2 to replace. Depth looks very good though especially if Lawrence comes back.

A question comes to mind is what would our QB room look like next year? Will Lateef and Kaelin stay? Will MR name Trae the starter right off the bat (I hope not, for our sake)?

I asked a while ago if Colandrea is gonna be here another year since the court ruling and I've gotten conflicting answers so I'm gonna base my belief on he isn't staying after this year.

That said, will we trust either Lateef or Kaelin to start in 2027?
