getting rid of Brian Ferentz and Fran McCaffery should earn her a lifetime contract
It's not just the "getting rid of" that was awesome. It's who the replacements were. That combination has been flat out stellar. As far as the rest of the major programs, her hands are tied with Brands as long as the Colorado donor still likes him. Jensen was a no-brainer at the time, but given hindsight, we still should have done a national search.

She's had a helluva tenure so far. Glad we locked her up for the next 6 years.

A few weeks ago I posted that Iowa needs to hang on to her because other bigtime universities might poach her if they don't. I believe I was making a prediction that she would be gone before Kirk. Hopefully, this extension is based on performance and not because another school was snooping around. Who knows? Smart move for whatever the reason is IMHO.

To be fair she gets credit for hiring the two basketball coaches. One (Jan was a no brainer, and pretty much had to happen). Hiring Lester, (the replacement) was Kirks decision not her, although I'm sure most won't give him credit for that either. And yes, I'm thrilled with her job to date.

Yes. Hiring Lester was Kirk's choice. Getting rid of his son wasn't.

I wonder if Michigan was sniffing around, looking for a new AD. Maybe not, but maybe.

I wouldn't be surprised if other schools were reaching out. But Beth is very smart. I think she knows that at some point in the not too distant future she's going to have her opportunity to make a flagship hire with the new Iowa football HC. And Iowa isn't a place that hires a new HC every 4 or 5 seasons. This will be Iowa's 3rd HC since 1979. That hire is going to be a big deal and I think she re-signed because she knows if she hits a homerun there it'll catapult her career and she'll be able to write her own ticket.

Link to most fans not giving KF credit for the Lester hire?

So tired of the dumb narrative being pushed by some people about how anyone who has any criticism of the football program just hates KF and only has an agenda to bring him down. Get over yourselves.

There used to be a lot of talk on the old site about the Nebraska cult. This isn't limited to Nebraska. KF has done a great job leading the program. He isn't above criticism and the program will continue to exist when he is gone. I think some of these guys will end themselves when Kirk dies or retires.

I don't care who you are (Man or Woman) Anyone who has the BALLS to fire the son of the Conference's all-time winningest Coach and the Dean of College Football Coaches get's a tip of the hat from me...
She didn’t even handle that worth a crap. She lied about it.

I guess we will find out how good she is once Kirk decides to finally hang it up. I have to image she will have a lot of good proven and up and coming coaches to choose from. Will she choose an in house coach like Seth Wallace, a former player and coach in Lavar Woods, go with a proven winner like Pat Fitzgerald who I think would want to coach here, or does she go with a young guy like Ferentz was?

I wasn’t a fan of the way that the WBB hiring of Jan went down. There should have been a search. I was hoping that Jennie would want to come back to Iowa City, she’s been doing well at Oklahoma including pulling in the #1 recruit in the country last season. Jan is fine, but I wouldn’t consider her a home run but rather more of a status quo.

Wrestling is floundering from what our standards are. In the last three seasons we’ve finished behind some partial combo of ISU, Nebby, Michigan, and Cornell. I get losing to PSU’s endless supply of money and OSU, but we shouldn’t be repeatedly losing to several programs with a lot less resources than us. Something needs to be done with this program

MBB seems to have had a home run hire from the early returns. Having said that, she hired the person that a lot of us were saying to hire. It isn’t like she went out and hired some rando coach from Long Beach State with no connections to the state or university (Lute Olson).

But Football will be where her value is really determined. She has to find someone that can keep the fan base energized and also win games without the endless supply of recruiting money that many of our Big Ten competitors have. A bad hire there will destroy the good will that she has built, and a good hire could put her up on a pedestal with Bump and Brechler.

Please give us the misogynistic hillbilly version of the BF dismissal. Be specific and provide links.
She lied and said at the end of the year, if he didn’t have a certain amount of points per game { I forget was it 20 or 25?} he would be gone. Well, she didn’t wait and he was gone before the end of the year. Now, he had no shot at getting those points to be sure…. But she did not wait .
