i'm really surprised that trump went to war against someone like the ayatollah who by all indications was well positioned personality wise to become one of his best friends

Trump lost in 2020 largely because people were tired of the non stop drama. He's good at running for office. He's been great at comms and defining and creating enemies to be petrified of. What he's not good at is being in charge of things. It's why his dad left a core of guys to run Trump Org. He tried to make it Donald proof. Nobody made America Donald proof for his second go around in the WH.
Honest question, of these folks you speak of, how many of them voted for Trump 2-3 times but are tired of all of the extremes?

Eh, probably 50/50. While disappointing for its short-sightedness, a good friend of mine said “my wallet was happier when trump was president.” Equally good friend whose family has been involved in Republican politics in the past said “ABT” - anybody but trump.

NK fired 10 ballistic missiles into the sea today. Not a very friendly move.
Kim Jong Yo, the sister of Kim Jong Un, gave a statement that praised the excellent friendship shown by Donald Trump, and invited concessions by the US to become even better friends.
NK has to see the bumbling effort against Iran, and feel emboldened. They have more weapons than Iran, including far more surface to air missiles. Scaling back the exercises between the US and South Korea was a massive gift to North Korea, and a display of weakness.
