I have returned from spending four days in Las Vegas. I brought the daughter - my parents took me after I turned 21, so I wanted to keep that going with her. Here are some thoughts from the trip - some of which I'm sure expose me as getting old:

We stayed at the Bellagio. The room was great and everyone was really friendly. I think that was a pretty good location - kind of in the middle, so it was convenient (as much as it could be) for getting up and down the strip to see the other casinos/resorts.

When walking along the strip you continuously walk through other peoples' clouds of pot smoke. I don't care if people smoke pot, but it is pretty rude to do it while thousands of people are walking around, and blowing the smoke where everyone else has to breathe it.

It's no longer possible to identify which ladies are prostitutes because a whole lot of the women walking around all dress equally trashy. No, I didn't take any pictures.

It's the desert, and everyone tells you to stay hydrated, but they also sell bottles of water for $8 apiece, which adds up.

The shark reef aquarium at the Mandalay Bay was a lot better than I was expecting. It was pretty good.

We went to the Cirque de Soleil "O" show. It was really good - a combination of acrobatics and aquatics. I was more impressed with the technology to move everything around and raise/lower the stage so that one minute people are high diving into the pool, and the next people are running across the stage.

We gambled some, but not a ton. I like gambling, but not enough to make it a focal point of the trip. It was more that we'd walk around, see something that catches our eye, play for a bit, then move on.

I wish that Excalibur hadn't become the low-end resort that it has. It's a fun concept and could be a lot of fun, if not for the crowd that's there. It certainly had the highest representation of face/neck tattoos.

We didn't eat anywhere "nice"/"fancy". We eat at enough good places that we didn't need the experience of paying the additional premium to eat at one in Las Vegas. Plus, it's hot there and I didn't want to get dressed up.

I'm not real sure who Lisa Vanderpump is, beyond a reality TV person, but she's got an empire in Las Vegas. Not only does she have her own hotel, but she's also got restaurants/bars in several other casinos. I guess there's a crowd that's into what she's selling.

Using Uber was super easy because every place had a designated spot for ride shares - that kept us from having to figure out where we were supposed to meet the driver each time.

That's what I've got for now.

You could’ve saved a lot of money and just gone to Walmart!

Kidding… trips anywhere with kids are memorable. Glad you had fun!
