Hobbton @ Midway
I don't exactly know what to expect from this game. Year 2 for Hobbton under the Wing T guru, Adam Scronce who proved last year he has what it takes to lead a program. Once the ball got rolling last year Hobbton was on fire and I want to believe they will keep the ball rolling. Yes, they graduated a few key pieces but you should've seen that JV team last year! They were bigger than the varsity! They have plenty of talent in that 10th grade class and the QB this year has great accuracy when hes got time to throw. I expect Hobbton to throw 10+ times a game...... call me crazy but I have seen how they used the QB last year on JV and how they have used him so far this summer. Running back Amir Tate is shifty and will be a major problem. Midway lost key pieces but bring back a ton of talent from a stacked 11th and 12th grade class. QB is back who is a NC State commit in baseball kids is a competitor. Running back Wesley Tew is 6'2 200lbs and probably the fastest kid in every game he will play in this year. The defense will be much improved and year 3 under coach Sloan and year 2 in the offense so I expect good stuff out of them. Midway has probably the biggest o-line in 3A east if you don't believe it take a look and the oline is anchored down by John Williams who is 6'5 300lbs and can move like a linebacker kids a stud. Midway has Hobbton beat in size, speed, strength and depth which is hard to overcome. I know the wildcats will be ready but I don't think this is a mountain they can get across, Midway has a great coaching staff and I expect them to be more than ready. Hobbton will fight hard early but Midway will dig in and takeover after halftime.

Lakewood @ Clinton
I am really excited about this one and once again don't know what to expect. Speaking on Clinton I think the community needs to take a step back. I am already hearing Clintons back! Eh not so fast. Arnette might be right man for the job, hometown boy coming in to get things back right but hey..... so was Johnny Boykin. Clinton can and probably will get back to where they want to be eventually but not a 360 in one year. They are very athletic and got some size so they can get the job done this year. Last year the blew 3-4 games because of coaching so yes this team could win 8-9 games and make a little run in the cheesecake 4A east playoffs. I expect improvement but CLinton folks don't expect it all ASAP. Onto Lakewood they have lots of youth mixed with great 11th and 12th graders. RB is a grown man, go see him in person he is a freak! Skill players are extremely impressive and fast. This team will be much improved from last year going into year 2 of coach Elliot. I expect Lakewood to win the conference this year but not without a fight. If they can stay healthy it will be a great year. I think Lakewood has more veteran leadership and talent when it comes to starters. If they can keep their starters on the field and rotate when needed I think they pull this off and send the cLiNtOn CrAzIeS into absolute panic. Gimme them Leopards.
