Onishi's first period 10-0 TF brings Williams back into repechage at 62Kg

Saga Svensson needs to win to bring Hanrahan back at 65kg Svensson is the most Swedish looking wrestler one could imagine. Sweden heartbroken as she got a last second step out and thought she won but lost 4-4 on criteria. Hanrahan eliminated.

Turner and Whiting are both on B. Turner is after 2 GR Bronze and 2 GR Gold so probably closer to 1pm Eastern before she starts.

Edit: This guess was pretty darn close.

Turner vs Batres Guatemala/Milford Connecticut 50kg Bronze

Turner with a quick single. Staying low and gets the TD on the edge 2-0. Turner with single to other leg to step out. 3-0. Shots twice right before whistle to get warned. Turner holding center Batres steps out on her own 4-0 but point not going up. Turner driving with a high double but only gets 2. 5-0 as step out must have been white paddled. Turner with a throw to back for 4. 9-0 and Batres challenge. Cancelled challenge at the last second but officials changed to 2 pt 7-0 at the break.

2nd

Turner shoots from space and pushes Batres to the edge and gets the TD to back for 4 pts and 11-0 win.

Turner wins Bronze.

After looking again, I understand why the 4 at the end of the first was changed to 2 as Bartes shot and Turner pancaked her so her knee was on the ground so not feet to back. I don't get how the step out wasn't a step out. It was clear and obvious that Bartes was out.

Blood time for Alvarez. Coles low single off the whistle for TD but no turns 2-2. Alvarez single that Coles gets exposure. Coles up 4-2 and get the 4 pt trip. Coles runs the wing to get the fall with .4 seconds left in the first period while winning 10-2.

A few super tough draws. Seidel gets Khateri first round. I had those two guys winning gold and silver. Boyle gets Dursunov first who won bronze here last year. Robideau as well. He likely gets the guy I picked bronze second round, Russia 3rd, and Khalili in the semis. Super tough

Sinclair has a tough road as well. First match is winner of Yepremyan or Khajiyev and win that he likely gets Shamsipour

James with a pretty good draw. Germany, Russia, and Iran all on the other side

Cortez with a nice draw. His quarter bracket is pretty weak. I think he has a good chance to make the semis and most likely see Rashidov. Magomedov, Ogawa, Petrosyan, and Rupesh all in the same quarter

Robideau did get a really tough draw as did Sinclair since there's multiple on their side of the bracket.

I know you mentioned Seidel and Khateri getting picked for Silver and Bronze but that can still happen. Getting only one strong opponet on one's side is ideal. Doesn't matter much when they meet.

Look at Morgan Turner's bracket. It was absolute crap since it was India first round with the winner getting the privilege of getting TF'd by Katsume. India was probably the 3rd best wrestler in the field and went one and done as she got the second best in Turner while the far and away best in Katsume was on the same side.

Didn't know they were out but will check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
Based on some offline discussions, I'm not clear how long Basch will continue to be allowed to scrape from UWW in the way he is, and I've learned that he once did something similar with USAW that was eventually shut down.

I dig the way he's arranged what I consider non-proprietary sporting results data (others disagree), onto his likely AI-constructed website--especially the catering it does to the American fan experience.

But I've now also been taught that if I'm using the UWW site and get prompted to download a .pdf just to view a bracket, that it's either my user navigation error and/or my browser's erroneous settings. My successful nav path, in firefox, to view brackets direct on UWW:
- click a style + weight
- click the bracket icon that looks like streams crossing
Then it populates inside the same window. I share that b/c one of the mainest reasons I was enjoying Basch's site more than UWW, was that I could see an entire bracket in one screen without download. A 'thing I learned' if you will, and one that will aid me in future uses of UWW site itself.

I know I have been using basch and UWW's bout board. I only trust the official source, which is why I use UWW but still use Basch since it's so easy to miss a wrestler on uww. USAW bracketing doesn't work as that would be the best case scenario as I could put US team into my wrestlers plus add other wrestlers I want to follow like Ono's sister.

USAW bracketing took some getting use to as some things are counterintuitive be it is my preferred option for most things as it's great once you are familiar.

Agreed about Seidel. It’s still the toughest match available and they hit first. The loser should come back for bronze though. Also I initially wrote silver and bronze but I picked Seidel to win gold and Khateri for silver

I don't think Seidel is much of a cutter. Don't know about Khateri. If I'm Seidel and have proper weight management, I'd love to have the toughest guy right off the scale.

Why wasn’t that a td for Seidel? He was still inbounds when he was finishing the shot

Wow! Incredible mat awareness by Seidel! Could’ve been 4 for Khateri and ended up 4 for Seidel

Great match by 2 really elite guys. Seidel broke him
