You can’t deny that Cabby plays with effort, heart, and desire. Traits that are desperately needed

I actually like him getting into the run down to try to steal an extra run. Damn near worked….out by the thickness of his wrist band
Jazz might could have scored if he didn't lollygag around the bases.

I was not going to watch the game today but I got sick before lunch and at the last minute decided to watch. More bad hitting all day wasting Weathers's stellar performance.

Rice saved the day after his error. It appeared he was watching Bednar who didn't get off the mound and Rice was far in the hole so I doubt they would have gotten the batter out anyway.

I just can't stand Bednar. I've said it so many times. He pitches to contact and that is not good for a closer. Every batter he faced in 2 innings put the ball in play except one. And he puts runners on base and is then prone to wild pitches. He also is not effective pitching 2 innings yet Boone does it. Should we make the playoffs I'm not comfortable with Bednar closing.

I hope we didn’t give up much for Ramos because he has been horrible. Should have just kept playing Dominguez.
It’s why so many were saying yanks were trade deadline losers. There’s no room for him and Garcia. Should’ve run with Dominguez and Goldschmidt.

Home plate ump struggled big time today. Couldn't believe how many calls were challenged and most weren't even close. I guess with the challenge rule he didn't give a **** if he was right or wrong. Lol I knew his dad who was a damn good ump, maybe the best ever.

Boonie was in Chapel Hill today visiting the football team. Apparently his son is an offensive analyst on staff

I’ll give him credit. Was sporting some sweet Carolina gear (that I’m sure Bill gave him lol)

Yeah. His son was with him when I shared a booth with him at the basketball game last year. I took a picture of them. Look nothing alike. Lol

With as bad as the Yankees are playing I might pass on this series with the O's. I can't take their announcers especially if they beat us.

So…the Phillies have shown their hand and confirmed they won’t be bringing Donnie back next year. Mattingly is my favorite baseball player of all-time. And I keep hoping that a World Series title as a manager might give the HOF voters on whatever sub-committee he might be eligible through enough of a blip to change course and put him in. He’d join Torre as the only former MVP to ever do that (win a World Series).

My question for you guys is…would you be happy if the Yanks let Boone go this offseason and hired Mattingly to run the show in the Bronx?

You can imagine I’d be beyond excited. I know these things don’t always work out well…but I still want to give it a shot.

I don't care who they get as long as Boone is gone. I wouldn't mind Donnie. I scouted him back in the day when I was working with the Yankees. The Yankees were very high on Matt Winters. I kept telling them to go with Donnie not Matt, that Matt would never make it. I was in no way responsible for Donnie going to the Yankees, but I like to think I helped.

I have agreed with Jim Palmer for the first time in my life. When Ramos challenged a pitch in the 1st inning that was well in the strike zone I told my wife. "that was just stupid". Palmer then stated the same thing.

I like the challenge but I swear I would fine players calling for them in the first inning. They should be saved for late innings and when the game is on the line. I think some players call for them because they are embarassed. And in the 4th inning we are out of challenges. Ridiculous. That's also part of managing. There's no reason to call for a challenge with 2 outs and no one on base in the 4th.

That being said I'm about to mute the sound. I just can't take Palmer's insufferable announcing and the O's network's refusal to stray from the game. This analyzing every single pitch is driving me crazy.

We are very lucky to have Michael Kay and his various sidekicks.

And Ramos sucks. That strikeout in the
7th inning swinging at ball 4 to kill yhe inning has been his M.O. since coming to NY. The Martian had not lived up to his potential but getting Ramos and sending Dominguez back to the minors is one of the many idiotic moves by the Yankees over the past few years.

2for....the only time it is acceptable to listen to Palmer is the last inning or two. Why?

You get to hear his "ifs and buts / candies and nuts" and "if my aunt had nuts she would be my uncle" sphiels as he tries to glaze another Orioles loss to the Yankees. My personal favorite (and he used it last night) is where he talks about "hard hit balls" that "so unlucky" were hit directly to Yankee fielders.

"We had a chance in the ____ inning with X up to bat. He hit the ball hard but unfortunately it was directly to the outfielder. If that somehow falls in, we're probably having a different conversation now."

Jim....that's baseball. There are a dozen plus "hard hit" balls every game that are easy outs.

And sometimes he will change up the "hard hit ball" sphiel to say "you know, in the ____ inning with X up to bat, that ball was hit so hard it caught the fielder, and not the fielder catching the ball. The Orioles bad luck just continues."

It's hilarious to listen to.

The best part is this is coming from a guy that turned from a power arm to a junkball / finesse pitch to contact pitcher and made the Hall of Fame doing so

He also criticized Lombardi's 2 hits to right field. Blamed it on the 2nd baseman being too far over towards the bag because they were playing Lombardi to pull the ball. Didn't mention it was smart on Lombardi's part and a great at bat. Lombardi is a good hitter and he hit it right into the big hole on the right side of the infield. Palmer whined and whined about that saying if the 2B was where he was supposed to be it would have been an out.

And Yankees hitters need to take note of Lombardi's approach at the plate with men on base. I love this dude.

Remember young Gleyber Torres' approach at the plate? He was hunting until there were two strikes. After strike two, he choked up and put the ball in play, often the other way. And had big hit after big hit. That one post-season, it got to the point where I was almost hoping he would get two quick strikes because I just knew he was getting a big 2-strike hit.

You know, how batters were taught to hit for 100 years before everything was launch angle, swing from the heels every pitch, etc.

Rodon said it best last night when Lombard threw the guy out from the deep hole "You're a bad ************ man"

Stop me if you’ve heard this…Cruz gives up a lead.
I've lamented this all year. He is Boone's pet. Leads the leagues in allowing inherited runners to score and just blows leads. Every once in a blue moon he has a decent outing. I didn't see it last night. As soon as he entered the game I changed the channel. Tuned back in once he left the game so I didn't get mad as hell watching him. Shows how little Boone pays attention, but then again, Boone is terrible at managing the pen. Cruz should never enter a tight game.

Good Lord Jim Palmer was at his all time whining the last 2 innings. Talking about the Yankees scoring a run on Lombard's "3 foot single". It was actually about 50 feet Jim. Lol

And the O's post game. Hilarious. I think they got screwed on Alonzo's foul ball. Sure looked like a homerun. In true O's fashion they blamed it on the reviews being done in NY, home of the Yankees. I truly hate the O's and their whining over all things NY.

I didn't watch the game last night and then read the espn recap where it led off with "Alonso homer ruled foul" and I was like...."damn, of all the games I didn't watch I missed what was surely some ALL-TIME Orioles broadcast team crying"

I never thought of Posada being in the Hall but in the pregame the other night they showed his stats compared to 3 catchers in teh Hall and his werd far and away better. Munson should be in and Donnie should be in. And Pettite. Word is there are too many Yankees in the Hall and the voters are not voting for them.

Kik…I think TJ had a HOF career…but what numbers of his do you believe are better than Moose’s?

When his death was announced, the ESPN ticker at the bottom of the screen listed his stats. It seemed his total wins were higher and his ERA was lower. My immediate reaction was, "How did Mussina get in and TJ not?
