Beat me to it. I love comedies and despise that movie. I saw it at the Hendrix Center my sophomore year.

I took my son to see Minecraft and was like "wtf this is terrible, reminds me of how much I hated Napoleon Dynamite"
Then later that day realized it was the same dude involved...

Looking at the nominees that year, Green Mile and Sixth Sense were better movies. But American Beauty was still a great movie.
