Most of the class ranked in the top 25 and 3 of the top 10. Having Moore as an X is exactly what we were missing. Should really free up Kurdyla to wheel and deal. Frattaroli as another lefty sniper is additional piece that compliments it all very well. IL has another lefty attackman ranked higher who wanted to come to Rutgers but the staff took Frattaroli's commitment instead. Hopefully it pays off. Combs in the middle of the field is a huge add on too. It will be interesting to see how it all meshes together with the new pieces.

It's a legitimately great portal class, but man I wish we could've landed the FOGO from Vermont (Zhao). In addition to solidifying the most impactful position on the field, he would've been ready-made for an NIL deal from the Brazilian rodizio steakhouse Fogo de Chao (which opened a location in Bridgewater just 15 minutes from campus). :)

We had him. Kid didn't even want to go to Hopkins. His mom made him after they offered a bag.

Moore is the biggest add followed by Frattaroli. Kurdyla is most dangerous off ball or initiating above GLE. Having a true x will free him up to do just that. He will draw so much attention Frattaroli should get countless open looks.

RU funding must be much better than in the past because that would have been two years in a row they pulled a FOGO from portal. Are they not convinced Rainero can carry the load?

Now need the coaching to step up

It's put up or shut up time.

Cali - I know you are personally vested in brecht and I admire that but there's nothing that I said that is out of bounds. In fact I bet you believe the same thing.

We cannot continue to have subpar seasons. If we are going to expect more from our coaches that standard needs to apply in all sports.

By all accounts he seems like a good man so I am rooting for him. But if he does not do well this year I think it's time to go in another direction

I’m not invested in anything other than the program. The last coach was a bum and I was not shy about saying it. Because I have intimate knowledge of the challenges we face, calling for the head coach’s head without addressing the real issues is what someone like yourself does when they don’t know anything. The period where we were even close to peer resourcing was when we went to the quarters and final four. What changed after that? Further, let’s play out your scenario. We get rid of Brecht. What is your strategy and who is that coach to implement the solution to those two issues?

I know you don’t want to hear it but the coaching staff is least of issues. We don’t have a good staff. We have a great one. Who do you think just landed the beer transfer class in the country?

And now they need to win games. We can't be bottom of the Big ten anymore. If we continue to be at the bottom don't you agree it's time for a change? If not what is your logic?

To be clear I'm not calling for his head now I'm saying if they don't perform this year.

It's been awful since the final 4. Worse than awful. This is not in dispute right?

What changed immediately after the final four? Where do you think NIL and scholarships rank in the Big ten? Dig deeper. These are the real questions you need to answer. You don’t seem capable or willing to answer anything. Just a fire the staff with no plan.

You better be donating if you really want to see wins.

Much of the coaching debate will be decided with the 2028 class and the upcoming season. Not much to say now. Top dogs with money to burn taking smaller classes there should be plenty of talent for RU to grab. I also don’t think it can get much worse than last season which I consider rock-bottom.

Agree.

If he doesn't show a massive step forward he will need to go

Not exactly a controversial position

I hope he gets it done as I like him

Brecht needs the scholarships that our peer B1G lax programs are getting. The NCAA limit went from 12 to 40 ( I believe?) Brecht needs NIL resources that our peer B1G lax programs have. Assuming you're of average means and you kid gets offered a 1/2 ride at RU, vs a full ride and a $100K signing bonus at PSU/OSU/MD/HOP/MI,UNC/UVA/ND, all of which are very good academic schools as well, where is your kid going???

Cali, are RU/Alumni stepping up to meet those needs??? With your "intimate knowledge", where are we, specifically, in those two needs, vs our B1G peers??

"Worse than awful" I'd dispute. Underperformed I'd agree with,

I'd say over peformed based on resourcing. We had no business beating JHU given the disparity. But we did.
So where are we in the actual number of scholarships? Keli has openly spoken about that issue for all Olympic sports. And where are we in NIL funding as I know it of course isn't known what the exact number it is for any sport as everyone tries to speculate

As an aside I did ask shall we say some of the higher ups in the department why we no longer host the or are consideration to host the final four and it of course comes down to money and premium seating/boxes

I'm not going to get into that here. Sorry. I will say it's an arms race in the B1G. We have more than we did. We need more than we have.

That, and the NCAA has gone to pro stadium models. Philly and New England host the next two. Uva hosted this past year, but that was one off because New England was hosting the World Cup and no other pro stadiums could be had on such notice.

We have to give Keli more time I know people don't want to hear that but she has only been on the job for 1+ years and I think she has done an unbelievable but as you know and other logical fans she started in such a hole that it will take a while to dig ourselves out of it

100%. She's the best AD we've had. She wants to win more than any AD I've had experience with. Having a President who hand picked her and wants to win too is huge. She's full systems go all the time. I've said it before but I love that she's not an attorney. Pat always looked for reasons not to do things, like NIL. While he was sitting on his hands, people like her were getting players deals.

She sees the value in getting lacrosse funded to peer levels, which has been very encouraging. Brecht won big when we were even near peer resourcing. There is no reason to believe he won't do it again if we can get there.
