Should be maybe an hour until the next American as Nutter in repechage on Mat A is in 8 matches and all the women have byes in quals. And they seemed to have confiscated the vuvuzela that was making it impossible to hear the replay officials explanation.

Nutter vs Abdelrehim Egypt 67kg repechage Abdelrehim beat Otto Black 2-1 in July

Egypt holding center pushes Nutter to the edge as Nutter circles. Egypt trying arm drags as he comes out very aggressive. Nutter tries a superduck. Nutter goes down in par terre first. No turns Egypt 1-0 and back to feet. Egypt's early aggression has wanted but still controlling center. 1-0 at the break.

2nd
Nutter still losing trex sumo. Getting pushed around quite a bit but gets his turn on top. Tries a lift off low gut to nothing then circles out front to try a head pinch. Still nothing. Nutter backing to edge too much and ends up down in par terre a second time while losing 1-1. Egypt does nothing and they stand after 8 seconds. Nutter backs to the edge again. 30 left. They've taken the old bald official off the replay controller and the young guy that is super quick has replaced him which is great as we're still 7 matches out from Khosary with America's last chance to win a match on the GR front side then all the women in quick succession.

And bald guy is back to slow things down.

Khosravy vs Rustamov UZB 82kg 1/8

I was mistaken earlier Khosravy is no longer at West Point but transferred to NYU

1st.

Officials having an issue with UZB knee pads stretching to singlet. Making him take them off. Khosravy arm spin to go behind on edge for TD. 2-0. Lots of aggressive pushing. UZB goes down 3-0 Khosravy. Half a gut then goes out front for head pinch and is reversed and turned. 3-3 penalty and Khosravy back down 5-3 UZB and Khosravy reversal makes it 5-4 UZB at the break off an bad head pinch attempt.

2nd

Lots of aggressive pushing until Khosravy goes down. Pony tail official is pretty bad.Low gut for turn 8-4 UZB Khosravy arm spin that this official doesn't recognize as a slip so TD UZB before a conference and it's taken away. Between pony tail and the blond lady it's bad. Khosravy with the TD 8-6 30 left. Khosravy is gassed.slips on another arm spin and loses 8-6

Whiting vs Coles Canada 53kg 1/8

Whiting inside single to stalemate. Single to double to step out Whiting up 1-0. Coles with a trip off a Russian tie for TD. Coles up 2-1. Whiting blood time looks like a nose. Whiting much stockier. Coles moving forward Whiting half single and allows go behind. 4-1 Coles who runs a half that looked like a full nelson. Coles working ties and Whiting the same half shot to go behind 6-1 Coles at the break

2nd.

Whiting keeps giving up the same 2 on 1 tie to go behind. Coles runs the wing and has Witting on her back 10-1 before the fall for Coles of Canada

Coles was a U17 champ so there's a chance for repechage for Whiting.

Donally US vs Demchuk Ukraine 72kg 1/4

Donally trying to work 2 on 1 pushes UKR to the edge and gets the step out. up 1-0. Back to working the 2 on 1 as officials throw a brick and point at something. UKR exploits 2 on 1 for exposure UKR leads 2-1. Chair keeps paddling for passivity but no confirmation as no one goes on the clock in the 1st. UKR leads 2-1 at the break.

2nd

UKR arm spin to single UKR holding ankle for dear life as Donally finally breaks the lock for a TD and the 3-2 lead. UKR now working the Russian tie. UKR go behind for TD to take 4-3 lead. Official let UKR have over 30 seconds on top for the 4-3 UKR win.

Super slow match without a lot of action and no one went on the clock. Side official offered 4 times but referee was clueless.

Turner vs Katsume Japan 50kg 1/4 Katsume beat Turner 13-2 at U17s in '24

Someone needs to shoot the U-S-A vuvuzela player.

Starting off at distance. Both Circling. Japan half single to nothing. Japan head taps as Turner gets warned for passivity and now hands to the face. Japan low single to step out. More taps at distance. Turner dropping to 1 knee at times. Turner on clock. Stopped for finger grasps but only warning Turner. Turner double from space into a front headlock. Another doublle to front headlock Japan working underhook. Japan bad single Turner spins behind but Japan keeps arm and moves it over her head to get out. 2-0 Japan at the break

2nd

Turner with lots of feignts Japan single head beteween Steps over for 2 exposure and forces Turner over again and again with an arm Turk for the 10-0 win but Turner is challenging. Bald man goes back to the beginning of the match then is like a dj going back and forth. IF anyone knows the bald replay official, please ask them politely to retire. Challenge lost 11-0 Katsume over Turner

Turner has a great chance to be pulled back into repechage

I've been mostly praising the officiating so far this tournament. There have been some mistakes like in Bowling's 1-1 loss where they went OB and replay overturned the call on the mat but didn't correct it. It was either a step out, correct throw or leg foul as athletes can't go OB with neither scoring. That seems like quibbling compared to the traveshamockery that was today's officiating. I mean it's been really bad.

I think the issue is asking them to switch styles at will and that's what's causing the night and day difference between days. Plus having a person who is seeming to struggle with technology handling the replay apparatus might not be the best idea.

While your PBP is top tier... your evisceration of the refs are timeless. LOL

I only watched the sequence once, but I thought I saw a quick outside trip… that’s not legal in Greco, is it?

Coles was just beating Li (China) 8-7 and had Li beyond gassed. Officials had a conference for a minute while Li recovered. Coles gassed her again and won 14-7 but this incompetence looks worse as it's starting to look intentional. Wrestling isn't strong enough to withstand the shenanigans again that gave us side officials.

It's not.

But I will give Lalovic this... Ref shenanigans do NOT repeat themselves. Nor do the referees who commit them. I think he clearly understands that any corruption will lead to the end of the wrestling as an Olympic sport (which the IOC made very clear)

My last comment on the officiating. There's some really great officials here which only contrasts the stark reality of constant poor officiating.

In one of the GR matches, during a conference an official was putting both hands behind his head pulling clearly indicating he saw an illegal move, the corner challenged moments after seeing that and won the challenge changing the score from losing 5-4 to winning 6-3 and won the match as the opponent went for desperation. That challenge totally changed the outcome of the match but the question is why didn't the official score it correctly the first time if they saw the foul. Some officials agree to agree knowing it can be changed by replay, others seem intimidated by others on their team and some seem to ignore paddles on passivity when they are on the mat.

The first two days of U20s seemed to have a few corners upset at the officiating. Today is a night and day difference. It seems like every other match has upset corners and wrestlers. If it's this bad when free starts, there's going to be a lot of naked Mongolians.

You can go back through my comments in this thread where I was praising how much better this seemed than U17s, especially replay speed but today it fell back into incompetence or worse.

Williams in the hole on A, Hanrahan in the hole on C. We need one more quick match on C to clear the conflict.

Pohl -Germany 65kg Womens got screwed by this schedule. Wrestled 4 matches apart. UWW site has her 1/8 as "live" due to lag and she's wrestling the 1/4s.
