Looks like Mark Gronowski has a legit shot at making an NFL roster

The fact they "cheated" to get him is secondary to the fact he wasn't worth a ****. It is just another in a litany of examples that proves Ferentz is clueless when it comes to QBs. He would have been better served during the Biff years and installing the single wing.
Dude, everyone was ecstatic to have acquired Cade.

You're judging KF's decision to acquire him based off the fact that he got injured after acquired?

It couldn't be more obvious that all your takes come from some sort of hatred that you have for KF. Really, quite sad

He was injured before being acquired by Iowa.

And stop with the “hatred of KF” nonsense.

Lol. It was a completely non-related injury that he was having surgery for to repair.

Again, everyone was ecstatic to have acquired Cade. That's the point
Non-related to what? He was injured during a game and it was before he was acquired by Iowa. That is an indisputable fact.

And "everyone" wasn't ecstatic about signing Cade. In fact, there were a few concerned that he was coming off knee surgery and the fact he had lost his starting job at Michigan. Plenty of folks who were incredulous.

Non-reated to the knee that you said yourself was surgically repaired.

By all accounts, Cade was to be a healthy player by camp, and he was.

Again, the slant that some fans are trying to put on it, can only come from hatred in the heart

Whatayaknow. I look at an old thread for the first time, and here you are ruining this one, too.

As usual, you've made no sense in this entire thread. First you insult people for not thinking Gron could make an NFL roster, and saying how draft night proved them idiots, even though he wasn't drafted.

Then you speak for the entire Iowa fan base, claiming everyone was ecstatic to get McN, coming off knee surgery which he required AFTER losing his starting job at Michigan, and when you are challenged about this claim, you go on about how we're just saying that because he got some unrelated injury (WTF?) and we just all hate KF.

You are a piece of work. Go fake-win another bet.

I made 2 statements, both of which were 100% true:

1. Cade was injured prior to coming to Iowa. That is a fact. Not sure why you are blathering on about "non-related", as it does not refute the FACT that he injured his knee and had surgery before being signed by Iowa.

2. "Everyone" was not ecstatic about him being signed. That is also a fact. There were several posters who, as I stated, were leery about him because of the knee surgery and that he had lost his starting job.

There is no "slant" here. The only slant is your false statements.

Also, I asked you to stop with the "hatred" nonsense.

Cade was terrible his entire stay. He was a hail mary brought in to try and save Brian's job. They thought it was worth a shot. Bringing him back the second year and giving him the starting job was a total headscratcher as he was obviously a broken QB at that point. A blind man could have told you that.

in short, Cade was merely a reflection of the fact thst Kirk and Brian were a disastrous combination on that side of the ball. I do give Kirk credit for bringing in Lester after Brian got the boot. I think he's done a fine job with the dumpster fire he inherited.

I called out fans for something they deserved to be called out for. Their comments about Grono, and KF for aquiring him, early in the season were absolutely ridiculous. Be better fans. And I never said anything about being drafted. And Grono was signed as a free agent the same day as the draft.

Maybe your experience was different, but I do not remember hearing one bit of reservation expressed from fans when Cade was aquired.

Let me break down the logic for you again. People talk a lot of crap about Cade and KF's/BF's qb's. But given that I didn't hear that sentiment expressed at the time of Cade's acquisition, I'm assuming it's a product of his play at Iowa. But he was immediately playing hurt at Iowa, and it clearly affected his play.

He got hurt at the start of camp, as I recall. And was given a clean bill of health in the summer if '23. So why is the staff given a hard time for a guy who wasn't very good at playing hurt?

Guess what the surgery did? It REPAIRED the knee.

Cade was given a CLEAN BILL of HEALTH for FULL PARTICIPATION in the summer of '23.

Injuries later suffered are not-related to the surgically repaired knee. That's what it means to be REPAIRED. If not, the Iowa doctors would be the ones to question

You’re even dumber than I thought if you think Cade’s subsequent injuries had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that already had a knee blown out. His running/footwork mechanics were awful from the day he started practicing at Iowa, and I have no doubt that this led to both of his subsequent injuries. This is seen all the time in sports and has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the initial repair job. My guess is that the coaches and athletic staff were well aware of this, but had no choice but to roll the dice because they knew darn well he was the only D-1 level QB on the roster.

A self-proclaimed football savant like you should know that.

No ****.

Remember after game 1, when fans literally thought Mark couldn't throw? They refused to listen to any type of logic.

Love how draft night proves the idiots wrong.

Then you should have…..read better. And it seems to me that those who were concerned about putting all of our hopes on damaged goods were right. Your thinking that successful surgery on a knee is equal to a football player being good as new is comical.

I thought this was a thread about Mark G. So what is his status with making a roster. This back and for high school girly fighting is getting old. I come on this message board for info and all I see is the same old back and forth whining. Act like adults!

Supporting evidence of this was his knee giving out during the kids day scrimmage and him going down untouched. His knee was never the same after his injury at Michigan.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

Cade strained his quad on like the 5th day of camp. You have information about his footwork during the first few days of practice?

Guess what happened to his blown out knee? It got reconstructively repaired.

What's seen all the time in sports, are athletes that fully recover from the injury. And in fact, many come back stronger than ever.

Yes, it takes significant rehab training to rebuild the strength in the knee. But doctors determined the knee to have been fully rehabilitated, and cleared Cade for full participation, in the summer of '23.

What you are implying is something that easily could have resulted in a law suit vs the doctors.

Nearly your entire post is representative of the same "perspective" that chose your username. Thank you for making that point for me.

And never have I claimed to be a football savant

I never said a THING about a clean bill of health, injuries suffered later, or anything else you are blathering about. ALL I SAID WAS THAT HE INJURED HIS KNEE BEFORE SIGNING WITH IOWA. (and that not everyone was ecstatic when he was signed)

My God. Take your own advice and READ BETTER.

So, you think the fact that he was running like an 80-year-old man during fall camp, strained his quad in a non-contact injury, then blew out the other knee in a non-contact injury were all just bad luck/coincidence and not a sign that a guy was playing hesitantly after a bad injury?
Ricky Gervais Lol GIF

Cade was a repeat disastrous injury waiting to happen from the first time I saw him in a Hawkeye practice uni.

Then you argued, when I said the injuries were not related.

You are structuring your sentences to present otherwise, but the fact that you haven't given sources for information about the first few days of camp, speaks loudest.

Yes, the quad was an unrelated injury. Have already provided plenty of reasoning why.

I do think there's a good chance that playing on the hurt quad contributed to Cade’s next knee injury.

So if anything, KF can be questioned for allowing Cade to play on the hurt quad

I did no such thing. All I did was ask the question “Related to what?” And I never mentioned ANYTHING about injuries he suffered at Iowa. Not…one…thing.

You are too busy arguing with multiple posters to even keep things straight. It’s like trying to reason with a child.

People can read. You are intentionally being an a-hole and I won’t be dragged into another one of your p*ssing matches. I have already destroyed your arguments. You are dismissed.

Then I honestly have no idea what you're trying to say.

Thanks for letting us know that Cade was injured at Michigan. Everyone knows that. Did you have a reason for mentioning it?

Let's make this real simple.

It's my contention that Cade's injuries at Iowa had nothing to do (at least structurally) with his injury at Michigan. Do you not agree with that? If not, do you care to share your reasoning?
