I think back to my grandmothers brother telling me about how it took him 18 months to get home from WW2 and that he had to stop in Africa and South America for most of it because there weren’t enough ships to route him back home. Then once he got back to the US, there were stops at a series of military bases all while only being able to communicate with anybody through the mail (which wasn’t easy due to how only limited people knew where he was). There were times where nobody heard from him for months and thought he was dead. He didn’t complain about how long it took to come home, and he actively fought in a war too.

We should be doing better for these sailors while they’re on the Lincoln, I guess, but no active service member should even have 30-40 lbs to lose like we are hearing stories of.
That would have been 80 years ago. Think how far we've come as a nation and society since then? Why should the incompetence of the current administration and leadership be acceptable?

Very very few people go into the military and are wealthy going in. The poor are "the others" to him.
This is true, but it wasn’t always the case. In used to be that the officer
ngl i'm all for shitting on trump and his sycophantic administration's fuckups, but this story is doing nothing for me. i'm sure **** like this went on all the time in the past, we just didn't hear about it as frequently due to the lack of ability to immediately communicate with sailors, historically.
Historically, like early 1800s, being in the navy was absolutely hell on water. That’s what press gangs were for. It was hard to find volunteers.

It’s wrong, it’s dumb, it’s obviously avoidable given we picked the fight. But I don’t think that it becomes something to discuss unless it can be used against Trump and Hegseth.

Since they been to sea for 200 days, the ONLY way to replenish is UNREPs. If they were hitting ports, they do crane them over. OR they ca anchor out and have stores craned over. You'd be surprised how many ports can let a carrier get dockside (30 to 40 in the world). The bigger reason to not do it is safety / security of the ship in that region and it takes a carrier group "offline" for week or 2+.

You are correct tho, supply ships are the best and pretty fast way, plenty of fresh food can sit for days from the loading to the UNREP event and then stay fresh. It sounds like they've crapped the bed on logistics to keep them resupplied (and as discussed, something weird is going on with the plumbing). Feels like with all the firings, and the unexpected military engagement, the military management is struggling to keep up with the chaos.

Im sure once he is gone, there will be reports and books written about how his methodology left the military off kilter.
The NYTimes is reporting a lot of this stems from Iran striking US facilities in Bahrain. Donald and Pete assumed Iran wouldn't strike back. Now they are trying to utilize Diego Garcia which is 2000+ miles away from where the ships are to stage and replenish.

I have no doubt the media you follow are a pack of liars and traitors. Probably mass spreaders of disinformation like the Russian collusion hoax that you deep throated and swallowed/regurgitated.

You're welcome for the constant reminders of the far left's failures and endless lies. Would hate for you all to forget.
Lemme guess. In elementary school, you were the short, pimply faced kid who repeatedly got picked on by everyone at lunch break. After which, you routinely crapped your pants, commenced to cry, and were sent home by school administrators to change out of your crappy pants. And you have continued your run of "success" to the present day. Felicitations. No wonder you worship an orange spray tanned, sociopathic grifter.

"Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times." - G. Michael Hopf

I think about that a lot.

Sounds like when a Democrat takes back the WH and then have to give it back to GOP/MAGA. Fix all the crap and then let them break it again.

Since we are slightly on topic, humble brag incoming...

I bought myself a new deer rifle/scope for my birthday and the scope came monday. I took an hour yesterday and today to sight it in.

Thats 3 at 50y off a bag rest:

If you just let the families of the victims know where the bodies are buried, it would provide a sense of relief/peace to those affected. Consider it, at least.

Nice, Where do you
Traditionally I have Bow hunted my property and helped my best friend push for his father and some old timers 2nd shotgun season of Iowa. This will be my first year rifle hunting during shotgun and I would really like to Harvest a doe off my property along with my Bow tag thus I may just walk with his group.

Thats a really long way of saying, Dallas county Iowa.

How many aircraft carriers ARE there? Seven? Ten? There can't be all that many. Maybe a single shipyard dedicated to aircraft carriers is enough?

Edit: Checked with my friend Google and this is what came up:

The United States Navy has 11 active nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. This fleet consists of 10 Nimitz-class carriers and 1 Gerald R. Ford-class carrier.

The US Code, specifically 10 USC § 5062, mandates that the US Navy maintain at least 11 operational aircraft carriers in its fleet. Yet the status and actual “availability” of the carriers are not always as cut-and-dry as they seem. Rarely are more than five or six deployed at a time, with the rest undergoing short-term or long-term maintenance in port.

Yes , Its a fairly new transition but they have to be straight walled cartridges. ( mine is a .350 Legend)

Iowa is so damn screwy about stuff. Some counties have necked rifle. Some counties have necked rifle if they have tags left........And NW Iowa is pausing tags.

Turkey is the dumbest one, It is by zone and I80 is a divider. My best friend lives 1 mile south of i80 and I live 2.5 miles north. His brother from Texas couldnt hunt my property because his tag was "south".

Was curious why the Lincoln had not been relieved from duty yet as 9 months is a long time. Looks like there may be no near term relief since the Roosevelt is the scheduled replacement and there is no clear timeline. So this 9 monther may become a 12 month deployment.

So, this is only going to get worse.

See link in my post. 11, we are at the minimum per Legislation. They already have a backlog for the repairs needed. And the miles will keep rising on the ones not scheduled. Military rarely has no backups to Plan A. Seems like that is the case for the ship yard.

I believe I read recently that they are going to spend some money to upgrade Bremerton so it's on par with Norfolk for doing work on a carrier.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was in Iowa yesterday campaigning for Republicans:
1. There is a war going on, and we have issues despite already winning it bigly 13 or 14 times per Trump
2. In a normal world a cabinet member on the stump would be shocking, and just wouldn't happen. I assume this was partially about Pete developing his own brand for a run for office in 2028.

Sorry, TG. I momentarily forgot that I am a communist, that the media (with the exception of Fox News) is composed entirely of a pack of liars and traitors, that Donald Trump is incapable of telling a lie, and that Trump was selected by God himself. It's a blessing that we have you here to remind us of all that every day.
