Easiest schedule imaginable with only one game….in South Bend vs. Miami FL being a tough one. Navy might be their second toughest game and that’s in Foxboro.

ND is the futures favorite to win the CFP if you want to bet .14 to get back $1.Since it’s easy to pick on their schedule, I’ll argue the opposite. It’s a middle of the pack ACC schedule. If they were actually in the conference it wouldn’t be much different. Wisconsin was much better when they signed the series and Michigan State has had better years, but this one is a Covid make up game from back when they were better.
There is no argument that their schedule is nothing compared to the B1G or SEC, but their schedule isn’t markedly different from an average ACC or Big12 team in a given year.
Personally I think the sport is better when ND is in contention so I’m ok with it
The fall of both Clemson and FSU from being perennial top 10 (and many others dropping from being perennial top-35 teams) has really decimated that conference. James Madison would have a winning record in the ACC.If we're going to b*tch about ND's schedule(which is pretty pitiful) look at Miami's, hell for that matter the entire ACC. There's a really good chance they will only play one Top 25 team the entire regular season in ND. If they play a second, that team may just slip in around the 20's and probably be out the next week.
Yet Miami still made it to the national championship game beating two SEC teams and high exulted Ohio State…mock their schedule all you want but that’s a serious result. If we're going to b*tch about ND's schedule(which is pretty pitiful) look at Miami's, hell for that matter the entire ACC. I'm confused, what does that have to do with this year's schedule? I thought that's what we were discussing. Apparently, I was mistaken and we're talking about past performances.Yet Miami still made it to the national championship game beating two SEC teams and high exulted Ohio State…mock their schedule all you want but that’s a serious result.
BYU did beat Notre Dame in their last meeting in Provo in ‘04…and the Cougs do have one Heisman winner all-time (but it’s not the guy you’re thinking it is). They are pretty stacked for this year and I think they have 3 games in which they will be challenged. If they beat Wisky at Green Bay, @BYU and home against Miami, they will probably be undefeated. Things will get flushed out in the playoff. If this was 20 years ago, they wouldn’t be challenged until the NC game if they won all their games. Now they will have to win a few games against top teams.

I do hope BYU gives Notre Dame a good soaking.BYU had numerous QBs who put up big stats in the 70s - 90s. They ran a west coast type offense before it was popularized. In the ‘70s and ‘80s most colleges were run heavy offenses, if a team threw the ball more than 20 times in a game, it was a lot. That really started to change in the ‘90s. Powerhouses like Florida, Miami, FSU were throwing 30+ times a game. BYU was doing that in the ‘70s under LaVell Edwards. Ty Detmer won the Heisman for BYU. They had QBs like Jim McMahon, Robbie Bosco, Marc Wilson, Steve Young who put up big passing stats along with Detmer.
