I was checking on our Nextdoor app in Mt. Pleasant yesterday. I'm 63 years old and saw Ray Charles in concert for about $20.00 in the 80's.

Anyway, somebody down here says he can't make a concert coming up and wants to sell his tickets for $1,320.00.

I had to click on the thread to see what concert it was because that's a lot of money.

It was Ed Sheeran. I had to Google him.

Are two Ed Sheeran tickets worth $1,320.00?

No they are not. But there are far cheaper tix available. Concerts used to be priced the same. Now they have learned they can charge a huge premium for closer tix. So they do. I am going to a concert in a couple of days in Charlotte. My tix were 50 bucks. To get in the pit or a close section they would be 1k.

As with with any other purchase whether it be stocks/bonds, a home, a car or in this case concert tickets.
None of these items have an intrinsic value till both parties agree on a set price.

The guy keeps reposting his offer and has been for about 3 days. So far, not one person has replied. I know I'm an older guy but I wouldn't pay $20.00 to see that guy play in my backyard.

As I said, no value until both parties agree on a set price.

When I was growing up concerts promoted the latest album and cost about the same as the album, about $7. Now albums promote the stadium tour.

AUGUST 12TH 1970 and the Allmans Bros. were the opening act at those prices.

Saw the Allmans at Clemson Littlejohn on Sept. 11th 1971 with Wishbone Ash as the opener which was outstanding. Paid 3.50 for a seat but ended up on the floor standing stage front as there were no floor seats.

I saw my first Chicago concert around 1974. Opening act was Steely Dan.
Don't remember the prices, but everything is relative. Minimum wage was 2.10 at the time.

Absolutely not!

Unless Ed Sheeran has a stalker living in Mt Pleasant, they won't sell for half that.

Rushing the stage was en vogue back then; I saw many a band while leaning on the stage close enough to tie some boot laces.

First concert I went to was Black Sabbath 70-71 ish at the coliseum; tickets were $8.

I saw CTA, Grand Funk, Alice Cooper, Three Dog Night, Blood Sweat & Tears, plenty more back in the day at the old Carolina Coliseum. Grew up on 60`s, 70`s also like a lot of the 80`s stuff, not as much - but some - after that. I`ve seen Dylan, Journey this year, going to see AC/DC in Atlanta on 8/27. Saw them last year in Tampa and they were fantastic! I wasn`t that much of a fan before but I am now - they put on a great show and Angus Young is incredible at 71 - he`s all over the place, shreds the guitar. If you like them at all and have a way to see them I highly recommend them. The crowd really gets into them also - high energy throughout. Not cheap but nowhere close to Ed Sheeran! I like some of Ed`s songs but I wouldn`t pay to see him.

I think people should be able to spend their money pretty much however they want, but if you spend $1300 or even $999 on a couple of concert tickets, please have the decency to not complain about unaffordable other things are.

I got to meet all of the members of Three Dog Night when they stayed at the hotel I worked at.....I even got invited to their private post concert party in our hotel's ballroom....food and drinks galore. To take it one step further, one of the band members borrowed my stereo system to use upstairs in their room.

Did you get it back?
