PRAYERS ANSWERED. (Update) Asking for prayers. For myself.

I was released from the hospital on the 5th day after surgery, but full recovery will take weeks, or even months, so if you have any extra prayers, I can still use them. I cannot drive a car, for example, for 6 weeks, and near complete exhaustion is my reality for now, so my posting will likely be limited.
The hospital stay went as expected, but one funny incident (at least for me) came on the 2nd day after surgery. I was sitting up in a chair and using a lot of tissue and paper towels. There was a waste basket near my chair, and I kept throwing my used tissue and towels toward it, but many of them failed to hit the mark. A new (older) nurse came and saw, maybe a dozen misses on the floor. As she picked them up, she looked at me sternly, pointed at the waste basket, and said "This is a waste basket. It is for waste. The waste goes in it, not around it."
There is not much more to add, other than I continue to be humbled by the outpouring of support that followed my request for prayers. My wife and I will be forever grateful.

fair, very glad to hear that the surgery went well. Wishing you a safe and speedy recovery.

As for the waste basket, had you told the nurse that you were a Penn Stater, she would have understood. 🙂

same thought as pre op. Stay present in the moment, don't get ahead of yourself or dwell on where you were. Good days and moments are good and bad moments and days are bad and both are passing. Long slow steady climb. What does Coach Campbell say "slow and right"

Wishing you strength, comfort, and a speedy recovery.
Along with your daily medical therapy, try to slip in some of those Nocturnal emissions of the gals we all applaud. 😉

This seems to be as good a time as ever to ask a question that's been bugging me for 15 years: Is your handle one or two words? I see it is one (fairgambit), but many of my fellow AKBers seem to think it's two (i.e., referring to "Mrs. Fair" as Mrs. "Gambit").

So, which is it? Inquiring minds want to know.

It's a fair question and I will give you a fair answer. 🙂
Officially, it is "fairgambit", one word all lower case. Through the years many have shortened it to "Fair" and a few others to "Gambit". There are other variations. Diane Lane, for example, has always called me "Gambi".😉
My lovely wife has no preference as to her moniker and will answer to either "Mrs. Fair" or "Mrs. Gambit'.
That said, let me again offer my thanks to all who offered prayers, support, and encouragement. My wife and I will always remember, and be warmed by, the overwhelming response. I am doing incredibly well, although the official verdict will follow an echocardiogram and meeting with my surgeon at the end of the month.
I still face cardiac rehab, but I feel terrific. I am in the process of catching up on client matters, but I expect to be posting more often in the days ahead. Thanks again and may God Bless Us, every one.
