Bad umps in Little League Baseball stand the testament of time. It's all part of the mystique and aura of the total package. After watching several games this week...I'm beginning to think they should be paying umps and find some good ones!
No more "volunteers".
Some terrible inconsistencies in strike zones, not keeping track of "the count", and being out of position on plays at bases to name just a few things.
I will give it that at least, for sure.Still better than the Banana's.
As a former catcher, that kid was being super lazy, or had never played the position. In either case he sucked and had no business being back there. Finally yanked this catcher.
He sux at keeping the ball in front of him.
Sure it wasn't easy yanking your son.![]()
He certainly didn't do his pitchers any favors. As a former catcher, that kid was being super lazy, or had never played the position. In either case he sucked and had no business being back there.
As a former coach, the first time he stabbed, or reached, or sat there, or didn't take the mask off (maybe thats a rule to leave it on) to find the ball, he'd be on the bench.
That was such a crock of shiit from the Wisconsin coach.Davenport is being accused of sign stealing now.
Yeah it was.The Wisconsin coach is a real azzhat.
Comments in pitcher's mounds visits, crying about "stealing" signs(which isn't happening).
Then explain why no warnings were issued?Yeah it was.
Your positions are:Then explain why no warnings were issued?
You think the umps didn't pay special notice after the first complaint?
JFC, even if it did occur, it's been a part of baseball at all levels...FOREVER
Good coaches make adjustments.
I've watched baseball, youth baseball, for nearly 15 years.Your positions are:
1. The runner on second just happened to tug on his helmet repeatedly only AFTER the pitch was called?
2. The umpires notice everything
3. Because it happens in other leagues the fact that it's prohibited in Little League is irrelevant?
So it was just a 'habit' to make a motion only after an off speed pitch was called? LOLI've watched baseball, youth baseball, for nearly 15 years.
1. Kids have "habits" when they do everything. Tugging on a helmet, stretching their arms, or pulling on their jerseys is completely normal.
2. The umpires had a meeting after the first time the Wisky coach cried. You seriously think they weren't going to be looking for something?
3. It is irrelevant. The responsibility to prevent sign stealing, if suspected, is to change the catcher/pitcher signs.
This isn't rocket science.
To reiterate...umps saw no indication of sign stealing after the first time. Umps saw no indication of sign stealing after the second complaint.
NO WARNINGS WERE ISSUED TO THE IOWA TEAM.
End of story.
Stop being obtuse.

Why no umpire warning???So it was just a 'habit' to make a motion only after an off speed pitch was called? LOL
The coach was told by his players who saw it happening in the field.
You're telling me that even if they did it (which they did) it's irrelevant? Any other rules you think can be ignored?
The only people who don't think the kids were stealing calls live in Iowa.
Imagine doing this for your 7yr old. Parents have lost their minds.
lol - You seem rational. Why no umpire warning???
I am not defending the Iowa team. If it was Kentucky/Delaware/Idaho...makes no difference.
The Wisky team was frustrated because their pitchers couldn't throw strikes.
You issue 14/15 walks in a what turned out to be a 7 inning game...you deserve to lose.
BTW: The first complaint started with the catcher. The second came from the coach.
Gaddamn, you're one, dense individual that's probably never witnessed a game in person.
STFU
One more thing...my grandson's team lost to Davenport in the Iowa State Tourney in Ottumwa the week before. I have no love for Davenport. They have three kids that play Majors club ball. The rest of that team is AA/AAA players and the 11 y o coache's kid shouldn't even be on the team. Nepotism at it's finest.
They will struggle when Thissen doesn't pitch.
I'll interpret that is you're finally raising the white flag.lol - You seem rational.
Cheaters cheat.
Well, you wanted the same video as the rest of us and interpreted that as 'not cheating, and if it was it's OK because everyone does it in other leagues' I'll take it for what it's worth.I'll interpret that is you're finally raising the white flag.
Last question...why no warning from umps?Well, you wanted the same video as the rest of us and interpreted that as 'not cheating, and if it was it's OK because everyone does it in other leagues' I'll take it for what it's worth.
As I am not one of the ump, how do you expect me to answer that?Last question...why no warning from umps?
I've lost count how many times you haven't answered that.
Every year, the Little League has some controversy, it seems. As I am not one of the ump, how do you expect me to answer that?
I expect that the Iowa team stopped being so obvious about it, but you'd really have to ask the umpires if you want that answer.
Not that it would matter. If they told you that they saw it but decided to let it go you'd tell them they were wrong as you seem very invested in it not having happened.
Every year, the Little League has some controversy, it seems.
The whole story comes across as the Wisconsin team was sore losers.
