The crazy thing about this is that in SC this is how our property taxes have always been. 4% for primary residence and 6% for a second home.
This Mamdani dude seems to be doing pretty damn well.

Meanwhile in Tampa, our elected officials are doing everything they can to give billions to billionaires to build a new baseball stadium and refurbish a football stadium. Our roads and schools are third world quality.

Is there anything funnier than this commie dipsht? How’s all the free transportation going? Free buses? Free childcare? Free, free, free. Wants to arrest a foreign leader as the damn mayor. Lied about housing expansion. Lied about homeless encampments and removal (cost them about 20 lives). Lied about library funding. Hires antifa clowns with insane social media presence. Has a bot farm to promote him on social media. Got booed off the stage in Staten Island. And left our Italian friends off the NYC immigrant enclaves (wonder why).
I think the issue is you guys may not understand what he means when he says “free”. It’s not free. This is a $5.2 million dollar annual subsidy that will increase. Free things aren’t $5.2 million where I’m from. Free things don’t cost money. He’s taking it in the form of taxes. The small, immediate “make existing subsidies fully free” step is paid for by the City of New York (taxpayers). The bigger free 2-K/expansion efforts are primarily paid for by the State of New York. Long-term full universal coverage remains unfunded at the scale needed and would require ongoing state and/or city revenue decisions.
His latest idea is that parents can go to public parks and drop their children off with complete strangers to "watch" them while the parents go have some fun. I'm sure no children will be sexually assaulted or worse in all this.
Mamdani is failing on all fronts and it is legitimately hilarious watching the far leftists who endorsed him regretting it now as he has doxxed many and is raising the prices on virtually everything to historic levels. NYC is cooked.
Nothing is free. The fact that adults buy that ridiculous nonsense is beyond my comprehension. Idk what to tell a person when the jump off point is, “he’s giving us all free stuff.” It’s a pointless conversation at that point. Basic understanding of economics is required to understand that resources aren’t free, if they don’t understand that, what can I tell them?

Unfortunately true. "Free to me" is free enough for some people. They don't need to understand that the bill always comes due when the bill comes for someone else at the table.

If you don’t work, why should you have any input on where tax dollars go. I’ll take it one step farther. I wouldn’t mind exchanging voter ID for voter W2 to be eligible to vote. Imo if you’re not paying or contributing, who gives a **** what you think or want. You get what’s left over or you go work for your own.
