To those who don't subscribe and can't open the article MC contacted the IHSA directly and owned it as I hoped they would do in an earlier post in this thread. I know some might been hoping for more because it's free shots at MC but if this was most any other team it wouldn't have blinked an eye. Punishment fit the crime in accordance with previous teams violating this rule.

And when the season ends the same people will complain. They’ll post on Twitter or X or whatever they’ll call it . They’ll post blue circles with maps and try to mitigate what teams have worked for all season worked for. The same people will lose games by unimaginable deficits and still blame others for their shortcomings. I’ve been around IHSA football for close to 50 years. The complainers will never cede.

Nailed it! Last year a coworker’s son was on LWE. I enjoyed listening to him all year talk about his son, his accomplishments and college recruitment. I would get texts or a phone call before/during and after each game. I enjoyed the conversations all season and politely nodded when he would tell me LWE should be the favorite over MC in the state finals. Before the LWE/MC matchup he was upset about the “experts” all predicting MC to win. After the game my call went right to voicemail. My text basically apologized for the score and downplayed it simply saying MC finally clicked on all cylinders and played the perfect game. Congratulated his son on a good game and great season. Crickets. Not even a thumbs up. Monday I was greeted with the usual. We are cheaters. We recruit. We PAY players. Among other insults. With the new season approaching the next parent has already reached out to me to let me know their sons team is ready to knock off MC this year. Listening to the father it seems that the kids talk about this pretty frequently and it’s possibly one of their goals for the year… MC has only played this school twice. Ever.

This is a story that I had assumed was fabricated from a social media poster and was a nothingburger.

The explanation seems to actually make things worse. The guy who is in his 9th year as a head coach who prides himself on getting the details right just happened to not know the summer progression for acclimatization this year? But he did it right all the previous years? And somehow no Hall of Fame Head Coach, principal, athletic director, athletic secretary, varsity assistant, sophomore head coach, freshman B coach, or parent looked at the schedule and said "hey something is not right with the schedule here. This is different than year's past. Why is this?" If anything, the equipment manager should know it too. And they have to have at least 20 plus coaches between all levels.

I have been involved with programs where everyone from the varsity head coach down to the parent assistants on the youngest pee wee team in the town all follow the same IHSA acclimatization policy, they all know it, and many would raise a question if it were changed.

But the best football program in the state of Illinois doesn't have people who would catch that?

I know it isn't a substantial competitive advantage and as such it's just met with a yawn as it should be. But absolutely nobody should believe this was just a simple oversight. It had to be purposeful and intentional. For it to be an "aww shucks we didn't know" just isn't remotely conceivable when there are that many people widely regarded as hyper competent and aware associated with that program.
