Other bases will look at that and say that they have multiple guys who can do that. Well... we haven't. We have one (RVZ) and now we have two...
Hopefully because our running attack requires good blocking wide receivers. NFL WR's can all block.

I’m way more excited by the throw than the catch. The catch was easy, but that throw was to the field side, on a rope, with fantastic velocity.

Sam Phillips had 2,000+ yards at Chattanoga but only 250 yards last year.
Seth Anderson had over a 1,000 yards in a season but struggled at Iowa staying healthy and getting seperation. DB's in the BIG are bigger and faster.

He made that catch look a whole lot easier than it was. Plucked a ball out of the air that was behind him. Many people can't do that.
That took a heck (pardon the pun), of a throw, and catch right on the sideline.....
I get it, but both Phillips and Anderson were 0 star recruits in the portal that only got offers from Iowa. Diaz is a 3 star with an offer list including Alabama.
I would also say that Phillips and Anderson only got message board hype, not even close to what Diaz has gotten.
l liked his elevation and body control to change in mid-air and of course the hands. We have had a ton of drops over the last 4 or 5 years with receivers not getting their hands in the correct position.
I agree that they weren’t as coveted as Diaz but Phillips and Anderson both had other options.

Seth Anderson one is behind a paywall but I assume he had G6/FCS offers like Phillips had in his.I agree that they weren’t as coveted as Diaz but Phillips and Anderson both had other options.

Seems I may have been checking their high school recruiting profiles originally.

Hayden used to say of some players..."He has that extra heartbeat". Diaz seems like one of those guys.
Kirk earlier said that Bob Sanders tackled people and that Tony Diaz catches the ball.
Imagine if we had a Bob Sanders type dude on offense, where we are talking about him decades later, like we do with Bob.

My answer after about one second of thinking I think it is Bob Sanders. From the moment he killed that Michigan St. kick returner... I knew I liked him. However, it was obvious why his career would be short. He was great for the Colts though.

What concerns me about this video is we have a new PA Announcer who’s trying way too hard to sound like a PA Announcer. Game show host cringe.
That's Rod Lehmertz. VP of architecture at Iowa but also the wrestling PA announcer. Taking over from Mark Abbott. We will have a new PA and voice of the band this year.
I live near San Marcos and am there quite often. If I really tried I could probably do some investigative work. Was at the harbor freight in San Marcos today, the cashier did not know him. Strike one.
