No trees down, but some of the plants were brutalized and we didn't have power for 11 hours. I wound up throwing out most of the contents of my refrigerator. Apparently IC was the beginning of the derecho tract and didn't get as hard. So, Yeah?Giant tree on my garage. Anyone else?

You're pretty much spot on. I had a branch go thru the side of my house tooYour policy will pay for the reasonable cost to remove the portion of the tree that's on your garage. In addition, it will pay up to $1000.00 for the removal of the tree debris that was on the garage. It will also pay for temporary repairs, like a tarp on the roof to mitigate damage, if needed. Any repairs needed to the garage should also be covered. Usually the limit for dwelling extensions is 10% of the coverage for the dwelling, unless you have a special line of coverage for the garage with its own limit.
Unfortunately, most wind/ hail deductibles are now 1% of the coverage amount. They can be pricey depending on the value of your home.
Let me know if you need any help.
Sounds like you'll have siding, drywall, insulation, and paint to fix as well then. Lots of siding was discontinued during covid. If there isn't a match available, you might be able to get new siding. Same with the shingles if they suggest a repair rather than replacement. If things get tricky, let me know. Yea my buddy who sold me the house said I could end up getting all new sidingSounds like you'll have siding, drywall, insulation, and paint to fix as well then. I grew up in the country in Iowa and have many memories of going to the basement for tornadoes... but i legit never heard the word derecho until 2020I had to look up derecho. Never heard that. State Farm is gonna give you about $400 for that and raise your premiums 70%. Good luck.
Also I'm drunk, I took tomorrow off because derecho. Hey @Moral how long did it take lol
