Good grief, Huey. Why does everything have to be explained to you in finite detail? Can't you gather inferences? I'm talking about how capable and independent she already is at 13. She can safely handle a firearm, hunt, field dress and cook a deer (I've got a backstrap on order) ...and she's apparently learning to reload her own ammunition. She just changed the oil in her family's tractor. Meanwhile, my "city boy" is still figuring out how not to cut himself with a kitchen knife and YES that's 100% on me (and I'm trying to get him under the Jeep w/ me all the dadgum time).

Hell, I was driving at his age and rebuilding my first engine. "Up your game" was obviously a joke about the fact that this girl is kicking his arse in the general life-skills department, not a competition over who has killed more deer. 🤦‍♂️
Since we are slightly on topic, humble brag incoming...

I bought myself a new deer rifle/scope for my birthday and the scope came monday. I took an hour yesterday and today to sight it in.

Thats 3 at 50y off a bag rest:

why would there be food shortages? from all accounts the ship is in the arabian sea (ie not inside the persian gulf) and freely/easily accessible for resupply
Those ships are so huge they can only dock in a few places, and given the long deployment with continuous operations they cannot break away to go far enough away from Iran to safely dock. They are being replenished, but I assume fresh foods are usually most easily acquired in port, not via undersea replenishment. At best a supply ship is picking up fresh stores and sailing for a few days to get to the fleet.

Was curious why the Lincoln had not been relieved from duty yet as 9 months is a long time. Looks like there may be no near term relief since the Roosevelt is the scheduled replacement and there is no clear timeline. So this 9 monther may become a 12 month deployment.

So, this is only going to get worse.

Good news, the George Washington has been dispatched from a port visit in Da Nang to relieve the Lincoln. Bad news, the Pacific Ocean does not have a US carrier in it, leaving it free and clear for China to play around in.

Good news bad news....

Was looking at the list of the 11, based on cycles, they likely need another 2 or 3 to offer relief and get the tours down closer to the 6 month targets. Abraham is on 9 month, Carl Vincent just did a 9 month,. These RHOC look to take 5 years, seems like some long term scheduling and planning has been... lacking.

Whats also interesting is they already have the George Bush in the Arabian Sea already, guess stupid, undeclared wars require 2 carriers.

Ships always have someone go crazy, we had a guy who just refused to shower, put him on shower watch for 2 weeks, then he stopped showering again for a month. Got a free helo ride home. MM3 Ochoa.

We had working toilets tho, makes you wonder what happened with a "new" ship that the toilets are't working, and the literally hundreds of mechanics onboard can't get a toilet running? I bet it's an airdale complaining that they have to go to a different area because the closest bathroom is out of order.

The working port and starboard shifts does suck tho.

It's troubling that $10 billion dollar ships like the Lincoln and the Ford have both had massive plumbing problems.

The news report I read a couple of days ago stated that the Lincoln (an aircraft carrier) deployed in November 2025, and that it had been out for 204 days and counting, which the news article characterized as a "new record" for length of deployment. I don't know if that means a record for an aircraft carrier or a record for any naval vessel, but it appears that the ship and its crew are feeling the effects of the lengthy deployment. My guess is that the negative press coverage may be creating pressure for the Navy to consider getting a new aircraft carrier out there to give the Lincoln a break.

The adviser was reportedly booed at the discussion, and several crew members threw water bottles when he was speaking.

After that, the situation escalated into a fight with the use of bladed weapons, resulting in the death of seven people and several injuries among others, the source added.

Weren't you in the the military? Does ANY of that **** sound plausible to you?

Are you serious with this ****?
No, it doesn't. And neither do the reports of multiple sailors reporting very low morale and deteriorating conditions to their loved ones. But the mere fact that the Navy sent various senior members out to San Diego for a meeting with sailors' families, and were reportedly booed at that meeting, suggests that there may some truth to these reports. That being said, a fight with "bladed weapons" and seven people being killed seems like a real stretch.

Im not putting any stock in the article, was just fishing. Amazing how some who constantly post links to propaganda can recognize it when it isn't propaganda they want to hear. But, when the call is heard, they jump like crazy to white knight for the admin.

Apparently, the deployment of the U.S.S. Lincoln has not been nearly long enough, and the families of sailors on the Lincoln are not concerned about conditions there. Just ask Cadet Bone Spurs.

It's amazing. This idiot has an uncanny ability to always say precisely the wrong thing.

What a sh.it stain on our country. He’s MAGAs only truth teller. F all of you MAGAs and those of you who try to say democrats are just as bad. You’re idiots.

As we idle over there spending half a billion dollars a day doing what? Can anyone tell us?

Cost Breakdown by Operational Status

The daily operational costs change depending heavily on the intensity of the conflict: [1, 2]
    • Low-Intensity/Deterrence ($250M – $500M / day): Covers base operations, military pay, and maintaining a massive naval blockade. Operating a single Carrier Strike Group costs roughly $6.5 million daily. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
    • Active Fighting ($890M – $1B / day): Driven by intensive air operations ($30M/day), expanded naval maneuvers ($15M/day), and massive depletion of high-end munitions. During the first weeks of the war, heavy missile interceptions pushed costs up to $1.88 billion per day. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The Total Bill So Far

While the Pentagon officially tracks "direct operational costs," the true economic impact is much higher: [1, 2, 3, 4]

Estimate TypeTotal Cost TallyKey Factors Included
Official Pentagon Figure$37.5 BillionDeployed troop pay, active fuel consumption, and immediate operation maintenance through Sept 30.
Independent Trackers (e.g., CSIS, Tickers)$113.3 BillionDirect operations plus the astronomical cost of replacing spent high-end munitions (like Tomahawk and Patriot missiles).
Comprehensive Economic Estimates~$200 BillionIncludes unbudgeted regional base repairs ($5B+), combat equipment losses, and macro-economic impacts like soaring government fuel costs.
The Trump administration has requested a $67 billion to $90 billion supplemental budget from Congress to replenish depleted missile defenses and maintain the naval blockade indefinitely. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Jesus H christ you are a *****.

My son joined the military and lost 30 pounds.

What level of stupidity are you willing to dial it up to just to be a whiney *****?

Dipping into I don't know you territory, but ........ if he lost 30 lbs after joining, he was a fat *** before. Sounds like bootcamp was good for him to exercise and have a more constrained diet.

I put on some weight, but that was more due to not swimming daily and swapping out for run and PT activities. And being 18.

He simply cannot admit to anything counter to his narrative. He cannot allow for anything other than the truth he is creating for himself.
Keep in mind this is the guy who doctor shopped his way out of Vietnam telling people who have been at sea for 9 months to suck it up.

I truly hate him. Worst human in American political history. The next 50 are currently Republicans in Congress.

Since they been to sea for 200 days, the ONLY way to replenish is UNREPs. If they were hitting ports, they do crane them over. OR they ca anchor out and have stores craned over. You'd be surprised how many ports can let a carrier get dockside (30 to 40 in the world). The bigger reason to not do it is safety / security of the ship in that region and it takes a carrier group "offline" for week or 2+.

You are correct tho, supply ships are the best and pretty fast way, plenty of fresh food can sit for days from the loading to the UNREP event and then stay fresh. It sounds like they've crapped the bed on logistics to keep them resupplied (and as discussed, something weird is going on with the plumbing). Feels like with all the firings, and the unexpected military engagement, the military management is struggling to keep up with the chaos.

Im sure once he is gone, there will be reports and books written about how his methodology left the military off kilter.

Sorry, TG. I momentarily forgot that I am a communist, that the media (with the exception of Fox News) is composed entirely of a pack of liars and traitors, that Donald Trump is incapable of telling a lie, and that Trump was selected by God himself. It's a blessing that we have you here to remind us of all that every day.

Doubtful given recruitment exploded when dementia joe crawled out of the Whitehouse and Donald Trump came back.

Patriots love trump. The far left fan fiction claiming otherwise does make for a good laugh though!

I have no doubt the media you follow are a pack of liars and traitors. Probably mass spreaders of disinformation like the Russian collusion hoax that you deep throated and swallowed/regurgitated.

You're welcome for the constant reminders of the far left's failures and endless lies. Would hate for you all to forget.

Was having a conversation this AM with someone who works for OMB. The point made was hundreds and hundreds of existing contracts have been terminated by this admin. Highly probable that the contracts for the food and the ordering of replacement parts are likely tied up in the canceling and reissuing (many times as no bid) so the issue is the new suppliers have no clue to get, build a backlog, and supply the components to the ships....

We won't know for sure until this admin is gone and truth comes out (this and many other things) but it's sounding like the trump admin may be more at fault for this failure than originally though.

Assuming one believes this is even happening (see above).

ngl i'm all for shitting on trump and his sycophantic administration's fuckups, but this story is doing nothing for me. i'm sure **** like this went on all the time in the past, we just didn't hear about it as frequently due to the lack of ability to immediately communicate with sailors, historically.

I think back to my grandmothers brother telling me about how it took him 18 months to get home from WW2 and that he had to stop in Africa and South America for most of it because there weren’t enough ships to route him back home. Then once he got back to the US, there were stops at a series of military bases all while only being able to communicate with anybody through the mail (which wasn’t easy due to how only limited people knew where he was). There were times where nobody heard from him for months and thought he was dead. He didn’t complain about how long it took to come home, and he actively fought in a war too.

We should be doing better for these sailors while they’re on the Lincoln, I guess, but no active service member should even have 30-40 lbs to lose like we are hearing stories of.
