Idk how these guys are playing this good with all the pitching injuries they've had to fight through. Keep it rolling.
Cabrera, Milner, and Palencia all threw for the I-Cubs on Wednesday. Cabrera threw 55 pitches and looked good. I suspect he'll make one more rehab start. Milner is probably gtg. I suspect he will be activated for the KC series. Palencia is going to need some time given that he hasn't pitched in 2 months. Ben Brown is a real wildcard. if he can come back this season as a guy out of the pen that would be a huge deal. As it is, pushing Rea and Assad to the pen with the addition of Holmes and Gausman makes the pen better. I wonder out loud as to if Thielbar's time as a Cub is over? He's been awful.Idk how these guys are playing this good with all the pitching injuries they've had to fight through. Keep it rolling.![]()
Yeah that was worse than waving Wendell Kim back in the day, but luckily PCA made it not matter. Been a damn fun week of baseball! Our 4 game win streak got us exactly 1 game closer to the damn Brewers...Feels like we're going to need to beat them ourselves to catch emCubs win in extras after a moronic send by Berry. Carson Kelly runs like he's pulling a plow behind him, and you send him on a shallow hit to CF where the defender can make a throw with his momentum behind him? Woof.
Thank goodness PCA forced some action.
I doubt the Cubs can catch the Brewers, but, we'll see. At this point starting the playoffs with a home series would be a good thing.Winning 2 of 3 on the road, even against a crap team, is fine.
What isn't fine is the Brewers. It's inexplicable how they win. Their shortstop went on the IL today. The 3b got hurt yesterday. Their top 100 prospect in AAA got hurt too. What do they do? Oh, let's stick Andrew frickin Vaughn at 3b. Let's sign a dude off the Mets AAA team for depth. They'll each get hits. We'll fiddle **** around all day long, let the Twins have 10 baserunners the last 3 innings but never score. Then we can walk it off even though we in no way deserve to win.
Brewers have a 7 game west coast trip this week - 3 w Padres, 4 w Dodgers. And they're lineup is beat up. Good chance to knock some games off their lead.I doubt the Cubs can catch the Brewers, but, we'll see. At this point starting the playoffs with a home series would be a good thing.
They also play the Mariners and Braves albeit at home. After that the Cubs and Brewers wrap up their season series with 7 games between the 1st and 9th of September. I'd like to think the Cubs will be at the top of the Central (or closer to 1st) when the play Milwaukee.Brewers have a 7 game west coast trip this week - 3 w Padres, 4 w Dodgers. Cubs have been playing great baseball since the break.
And have lost .5 games on the Brewers.
Not to mention the series against the White Sox. I think inter-league play has lost its novelty, but when is the last time a cross town series had playoff implications for both teams? Those 7 games with the Brewers are going to be intense.
Yep, and they are starting a 4 game set at Chavez Ravine tonight.3 games back. Brewers buttholes are tightening.
A majority of their infield is injured. They can't hit at all currently.Yep, and they are starting a 4 game set at Chavez Ravine tonight.
It’s not all good news for the Cubs. There’s something wrong with our closer. I bet he’s still hurt:

The Sox should have saved the " Pope Leo " game for the Cubs series. " The sign of peace " handshake in the 7th instead of the usual take me out to the ballgame and ensuing melee between Chicago fans...Not to mention the series against the White Sox.
