With athletics on the same storm delay, one wonders how getting enough practices to participate in a Week 1 game works. I know "back in the day," during an active time of August teacher strikes, games were forfeited as striking schools could not participate in sanctioned practices. Maybe "apples and oranges" situations, but it will be interesting to follow how a fair outcome can occur. I remember a couple of instances where 2 games were played in the same week to satisfy all eligibility requirements to play a first game. P.S. The above concerns pale in comparison to the HF community recovery.

These storms have been crazy. If there was only some warnings we could have been getting for years about the increased severity of our climate. Anyways, hopefully all is safe and they manage to get their practices in.

I assume they will find a suitable place to practice off campus. It is a challenge for AD and Admin with all fall sports kicking into gear but they will figure it out. My first call would be to the IHSA to see what options/etc they have to make sure they get the necessary practices in. Make sure you are in the proper equipment for said practices!!!!

As logical as much of the above seems, off-site work-arounds for sanctioned practices never materialized. "You were either 'in' or you were 'out' with no such thing as 'life in-between.'" I would imagine insurance issues ruled to override alternatives.

They did. Another school allowed them to practice there.

Plenty of school use park district or middle schools for lower level practices and games.
