I have no idea about the statement that Tom hadn't talked to him since he committed . But the rest of what he said wasn't a lieWhile I understand your statement, I think you probably got the gist of mine too.

I have no idea what you are referring to here and if you think I made a comment like that - nope. If you made it in reference to someone else - fair enough.I have no idea about the statement that Tom hadn't talked to him since he committed . But the rest of what he said wasn't a lie

Yes.Is the 30 roster spot cap in practice this year?
You won't see it coming until it's here. And there's only certain contenders .i love what they're doing in Nebraska. all the respect in the world to them. but there's a snowball chance in hell they are the 'next dynasty'.
Well I think you should know that it is a good idea to keep paying tommy. Better yet, lock this powerhouse coaching staff in with a lifetime contract. #TIT4LiFeI actually do not know that, but thanks for telling me what I should and should not know
Sure thing KookWell I think you should know that it is a good idea to keep paying tommy. Better yet, lock this powerhouse coaching staff in with a lifetime contract. #TIT4LiFe
Good - name 3 better coaches.
You can't
Tom Ryan. He has consistently out-recruited Brands in recent years, but Ohio State has finished behind Iowa for six straight tournaments. How would one measure this?
No one has done less with more over the past 5 years than Brands.
Probably not. In hindsight, it was pretty easy to look back and see how the last two dynasties came about. You had two iconic coaches and wrestlers. I don't know if you're old enough to remember life magazine, but I think Dan Gable had a profile in that after he won the Olympic gold. Back in winning an Olympic gold medal seem to be a bigger deal than it is now.i love what they're doing in Nebraska. all the respect in the world to them. but there's a snowball chance in hell they are the 'next dynasty'.
Tom sure has gotten a lot of passes the last 20 years.I saw the rumor that the kid came once to train, and stole someone's equipment (whatever that means). Anyone can say anything on a message board, so I take it with a grain of salt. But that would at least make sense, in terms of providing context about the relationship deteriorating.
Separate thought, I also didn't realize he was #27 on the Big Board. That's inconsistent with the hype of "losing another blue-chip recruit." The kid is obviously talented, but not a Bo Bassett or Melvin Miller.
Unless more damning info comes out, I'm giving Tom a pass on this one.
No one is the bigger waste of talent than TanTom. And refuses to change a thing.Tom sure has gotten a lot of passes the last 20 years.
Then why take him in the first place?IF you're a fan of Iowa - this is much ado about nothing.
Personally, didn't care for Amato due to character/commitment concerns. I was clearly right and Tom got it handled prior to the kid enrolling. This isn't going to damage Iowa as much as the naysayers want to think (really, not at all). Amato's issues aren't exactly unknown in NJ circles.
The only thing that matters now is on mat performance. That will be the only thing that keeps Iowa in the game.

He's a good wrestler. You hope he's grown up a bit. Then why take him in the first place?
Let's not forget that Willie had Paddy Gallagher #1 overall in 2022, ahead of Mendez. Add him in and it it 8 in 18.He's gotten 7 total AA finishes from 14 postseason appearances from Mendez, Bouzakis, Feldman and Kharchla.

Oops. It was 2021, but still...
The portal giveth (Iowa) and the portal taketh away (Ohio State - Kerkvliet and Welsh). The portal acquisitions are where the Brands' / Iowa have made a big difference when compared to Tom Ryan / OSU. Seems as though the Buckeyes were late-adopters to embrace the opportunities in the portal.
If it wasn't for the portal, would TNT have been run out of town by now? Crazy to think how much of an impact it has had on the program and a competitive Iowa will always be good for the sport. It's just not enough, recruiting and development go hand in hand and both aspects are missing the mark right now.The portal giveth (Iowa) and the portal taketh away (Ohio State - Kerkvliet and Welsh).
Not sure why people don't look at the portal as recruiting because that's what it is. Just because it's not a HS kid that doesn't mean he wasn't "recruited". With some guys it's known a year ahead of time hes gonna portal next year so he's then a target just like a HS kid would beIf it wasn't for the portal, would TNT have been run out of town by now? It is odd the way some fans portray it in this sport vs. the way it's viewed in the bigger sports. Nobody says crap like this in college football or basketball. Not sure why people don't look at the portal as recruiting because that's what it is. The $$$ in wrestling is a rounding error to football and basketball. Also the talent pool is vastly smaller. I am not a fan of portal hopping and it needs to be governed better. It exists and it is what it is, but I believe the sport would be better off if there wasn't a constant raiding of other teams talent. It is odd the way some fans portray it in this sport vs. the way it's viewed in the bigger sports. Mendez losing this year I put squarely 75% on the coaching staff. Mendez was sitting on a 1st period stall call against Vega and never pressed the advantage the rest the match. This played into Vega strength of counter wrestling. He's gotten 7 total AA finishes from 14 postseason appearances from Mendez, Bouzakis, Feldman and Kharchla.
It's 2026. This is part of the recruiting system. I understand that some may wish it weren't so, but we can only deal with what is.The $$$ in wrestling is a rounding error to football and basketball. There was some talk about iowa having connections to the Jovannis from Florida. Jovanni Sollis and Jovanni Tovar Sollis is #11 Tovar #15 in 2028 according to matscouts. Sollis is at 138 and Tovar at 126Since this is a recruiting thread, do we have any thoughts on who else to look for in the 2028 class? We’re off to a great start with Bachmann and Kenny, but who else should we be looking at? I know Matty O’Neil was thrown out there already. Idk how Sammy Sanchez would fit into the class but you would never say no to making it work.
I’ve been curious about this too, with us no longer having Sonny and Freddy being bigger than expected, that opens up some room. There was some talk about iowa having connections to the Jovannis from Florida. If there in on Matty O'Neil hes ranked at the same weight that Amato is as well according to willie O'Neil is 5 and Amato 6I’ve been curious about this too, with us no longer having Sonny and Freddy being bigger than expected, that opens up some room.
Have those FL boys been training at Iowa recently ? Wonder how much connection we got with them. Any insiders?
Matty trains a lot with the Bachmanns. Plus, Willie said we had a shot at him (he said a while ago).If there in on Matty O'Neil hes ranked at the same weight that Amato is as well according to willie O'Neil is 5 and Amato 6
He's no stranger to Iowa CityMatty trains a lot with the Bachmanns. Plus, Willie said we had a shot at him (he said a while ago).
.... yes that's my point.HUH?
Bro. Indiana head said he prefers the portal. ESPN has portal rankings. The bigger sports are ESPECIALLY lethal at the portal and have added it just another day at the office.
What about Mario Hutcherson, I know he’s been to some camps in Iowa City, but I get the feeling he’ll be a PSU kidHe's no stranger to Iowa City
