Main Street is going to look great once the project is done.

182 will be aesthetically pleasing but I'm not sure what the point of that project is. Seems 182 is a lost portion of town with the 82 bypass and all the growth on 12 since forever.

last and most importantly..... CUT the damn grass on 12 from 82 to 182. It's the first portion of town most people see.

That was being cut yesterday afternoon when I went to SmallMart MarketPlace.

I just wish they'd finish the damn thing. They've been working on it for over a year and it's still not scheduled to finish until July of 2027. The entire stretch they're working on is less than a mile. That shouldn't take 2+ years.

The whole project is weird to me.
Especially in town they made the sidewalks too wide and the road too narrow.
You're gonna be grateful for those extra wide sidewalks when SPSers are in town.

Eh, it's grant money. And it's only 2 blocks from Main Street. Normally I'd agree and say we do everything backwards but I do think Starkville grows back into that area and we'll see some investment. We're still an SEC college town.

I wish, more than anything, we'd rework all the interchanges on 12 between campus and town, from around College View to around the hotel. The remnants of the old highway, why do we need interchanges there? It was always stupid to pump high traffic through that area. Vestiges of the old guard I guess. Missed our chance to ever have a Tuscaloosa or Auburn situation.

Any construction/ business updates?
Hotel Madelon is coming along and will look great sitting on the hill. I didn't realize how well you would able to see it from 12, until this weekend.

There is some road construction at Barr and BS Hood. Is there another roundabout being constructed?

All the dirt is turned for the new Starkville HS.

Drove down the now opened stone blvd. 2 weeks ago. Been shutdown since the winter to build that roundabout in front the pike house. Kept saying “it took 8 months for this?”
Honestly was about to start a thread last month on which would get built first, the hotel or the roundabout

Is that the real name?

Drove through last week, the roundabout looks pretty nice other than it seems the transition up the hill to Bost could have been a bit smoother.

Already seeing some movement:

Trifecta Development Group in Brandon just purchased approximately 2.5 acres on the corner of Lafayette and Highway 182 block in Starkville.

With nearly 80% of the architectural plans complete, Trifecta Development Group partners Tye Densford and Alex Alexander confirmed plans to construct two buildings, one with 12 condominium units and one with 24. Combined, the first floor of both buildings will include approximately 16,000 square feet of commercial space to include businesses like a restaurant, coffee shop, boutique and more.”

1. The area from the Barr/Hood intersection to the Hump is going to be a "pedestrian plaza" once they are finished with the Giles Hall (old Ag Industrial/Surveying bldg), there will be no more traffic allowed through there. It will be like the old "Engineering Row" which is now closed and finished and has new seating, landscaping, etc but the only traffic allowed through Engineering Row now is the SMART buses.

2. The school district approved the concrete slab and steel portion bids of the new school Tuesday night, $13 million worth (3% higher than budgeted)
