When I was doing marketing/design for a mid sized music venue/theatre (700 capacity) and I got to go to every show for free. Prob went to 400+ shows in a 5 year period. This also included marketing/design for a weeklong music festival that I got free passes to.
Runner up is when I was doing marketing/design for a city parks & rec.

Golf course in high school. This was back in the day when the shop kid worked for the pro directly when they would still own the concessions, pro shop, and carts and operated that as their business. (Now standard practice that's all owned and operated by the the course/club itself). So even though it was a city course we all worked for said pro who was a huge partier (as nearly all were at the time). It was super fun and laid back and consisted mostly of us kids that were shop rats that kind of grew up there that got promoted into working there when we got old enough.
The step kid now does that job at our club. He loves it and they still have fun and he makes a ton of money for a 16 year old, but they don't get to enjoy the crazy shenanigans we did back in the 90s lol. Quite frankly I can't believe none of us ever destroyed a cart. Or ourselves....

Sounds a lot like my experience in the 1990s. I will say though that the most dangerous thing at the muni course were the night outings. What can go wrong with a bunch of drunk dudes driving carts around the course in the dark, hitting glow in the dark balls at glow in the dark pin flags?

Yeah, the job that I referenced was probably in 1994. Certainly not recent, but definitely the most fun.
From the age of 12 until I got my driver's license I maintained the little league diamond in town. I got $5 for every game. I drug the diamond using a 3 wheeler, put the bases and mound out, and chalked all the lines.
Between baseball and softball it was 3-5 times a week plus a few weekend tourneys every summer.

was really only about 1.5 months of work and didn't include any of the gross stuff (kitchen, bathrooms). basically spraying out lockers and cleaning the floors with one of those big spinning cleaners
the last month or so, we'd hang out in the library (air conditioning), play basketball or lift weights in the gym
and any full time job as a 16 year old is pretty sweet

You are trying too hard to be a contrarian. Reminiscing on working outside as a teenager and having sex with cart girls does not mean our lives and careers 30 years later suck.

The one that was least like actually working like I do as an adult, and having the best time, was as a teenager spending time at a golf course, drinking free beer, and hooking up with beer cart girls.

I spent a year as a hasher at Pi Beta Phi. Didn't make much but was surrounded by smoking hot sorority girls all the time. In the mornings they were half naked. Even hooked up with a couple of them. It was actually kind of hard work, but the benefits....
I forgot one that I really liked. I worked at a golf course during the summers in college (never once actually golfed in those three years).
Wednesday was women's night and I was the beer cart guy. The ladies don't tip all too well, but it was still extra money, the job was really damn easy, and my boss always let me take beer home.

I enjoy my current job (attorney) other than the admin hassle - budgets, billings, client conflicts.

Seems like the PSU posters miss the spirit of many of the light hearted threads here. Well, the two I know of.
We are similarly situated both in past and current jobs!
As much as sitting outside drinking beer and reffing sand volleyball? No, not as much as I enjoyed that.
And I really enjoy my current job and the work that I do, but it's a lot of work and I don't get to sit outside drinking beer while I do it nearly as often as I'd prefer. Not never, but not often either.
Different kind of fun, I guess.
Did that summer job let me go to India or Australia, or go to baseball games in a bunch of different stadiums, or going to huge extravagant dinners on someone else's dime, or petting search and rescue dogs at an emergency management conference, or taking a tour of a new waterline funded by a grant we were managing that was bringing clean water to rural residents for the first time in decades, or 100 other things? No, but it did come with hanging out, having fun, making a little spending money (a big deal for college me), with no work emails blowing up my phone, or 8am Teams meetings, etc.
Hey Ned, maybe they just found it to be a simpler time without much stress. It's called an opinion. You don't shy away from letting us know yours. So again STFU or provide something of value for the first time in your life
