Edit: Never mind, I know the answer to the question I'd posed.

Tough situation, a much larger school than say Litchfield who posted the same announcement a week ago. Their football numbers have been rough for years now. Losing hasn't helped. Coaching turnover hasn't helped. The DPS district situation hasn't helped. I'm sure they'll have 45 kids turn out for basketball though. Crazy how that works...

Confirmed by Derek Parris that Eisenhower will not play a varsity schedule.

This creates openings for:
Wk 1-Mascoutah
Wk 2- Mt Zion
Wk 3- Rochester
Wk 4- U High
Wk 5- Glenwood
Wk 6- MacArthur
Wk 7- Lincoln
Wk 8- Southeast
Wk 9- Lanphier
All..... I would assume it would be too late for any Panthers players to make the jump over to MacArthur? Ratsy

Good question and I have no idea the answer.

However, I would assume the only real options would be either MacArthur or St Teresa.

Yeah, from what I gathered from many of the Litchfield folks it doesn't seem viable that transfers and playing right away could happen. Although that's in a rural area. The way kids flip flop between these district schools in Decatur who knows.

Idk what they've got to offer in terms of quality junior/senior talent that's now left with nothing. But surely Spates and Miller could use any or all at both Mac and St. Teresa.

Could be in error always confusion how a public to private transfer works. I believe there have been changes to the rule in the past. Ratsy
True, public to private is always questionable no matter the situation to some. Surely an exception for this situation. The academic expectation however at St. T would likely be a little higher. I know in recent years my brother was a AT at Ike... he said kids were absent (athletes) often and still allowed to play. I don't forsee that being allowed at St. Teresa. Could be wrong though...

All.... There goes the neighborhood if it's the whole season. The Ihsa shows open dates if current for the non CS8 teams below. These are NOT scheduled. I could see some ugly scores here if some of these were to happen. Ratsy

W3 9-4 /5 Chicago Kenwood or Staunton vs Rochester
W4 9/11 Galesburg vs Normal University
W5 9/18 Madison vs Chatham Glenwood
W7 10/2 Hillsboro vs Lincoln
W8 10/9 Pana vs Southeast
Other open dates: Week 3: Quincy (vs Rochester?)
Week 5: Rock Island and/or Urbana (vs. Glenwood?)
Week 7: Moline (vs. Lincoln?)
Week 8: Geneseo (vs. Southeast?)
Week 9: United Township (vs. Lanphier?)

All..... Quincy scheduled Chicago Urban-Prep Bronzville. I believe that is a Thurday game. Not sure about Geneseo. A couple of days ago on the Ihsa open dates list they were looking for that week eight game. Not on the list as of today. Ratsy

Chicago Kenwood was 9-2 last year with a 38-34 loss to St. Francis in week 1 & a 43-20 second round playoff loss to Lincoln-Way West in 7A.

Seems like this could be a decent matchup for Rochester in Week 3. Much better than Staunton.

Indeed. Massey shows the Rochester-Kenwood matchup at 37-27....Rochester-Staunton at 52-6.

All.... Some schedules I have checked including a Michigan site shows Kenwood playing Grand Rapids Catholic Central a road game on 9/5 Saturday 3pm.

Could be one of two things. The Ihsa open dates list not updated (as well as the master schedule) or Kenwood decided after further consideration " no thanks." The Cougars are ranked 29th in the state and Massey has them winning 31-14. If it's still on likely one of those deals where Central having trouble filling their schedule has made it very attractive for Kenwood to come and play.

There are enough CPL fans on Edgy's board that likely know if the Broncos have filled this week three game.

I would be surprised if Staunton would agree to play Rochester but one never knows.... Ratsy

All....Checking Massey showing Staunton for the season going 3-6 with one of those wins against Litchfield. If all three win teams under the new playoff format are going to get into postseason play I can't see the Bulldogs giving up a forfeit win aginst the Purple Panthers. Staunton by the way hasn't made the playoffs since 2018. Some but not all of the two win schools will be playing week 10 another thing they would have to consider. Ratsy

This is setting up a situation where the Rockets may have to look out of state for an opponent.

Tough 7A programs the 1st two weeks along with a bad memory of the last time the Rockets took a game on short notice make me lean towards simply taking the forfeit.

And if they do find an opponent, this was supposed to be a Home game for Rochester. Under no circumstances, take a game and then also agree to make the trip to whomever it would be.

Chatham's football page now showing a Week 5 game at Rock Island.

Another CS8 vs Western Big 6 contest. Rock Island was 2-7 last year and has an enrollment of 1,731.

A Week 4 game between U High and Galesburg could be competitive. Galesburg was 2-7 last year but has an enrollment of 1,102.

Originally an Away Game for both teams.

Lincoln, Southeast, and Lanphier would all be big underdogs against Moline, Geneseo, and United Township (East Moline) Weeks 7-9.

All...., Post 212. Coach Leonard was briefly on the Monday afternoon radio show - 1450. He mentioned doing a five state search. I believe three CPL teams in Illinois were available, one in Wisconsin and one in another state but no takers. Would like to know who the two non CPL teams were to check out thier football pedigree.

He did bring up Staunton a couple of times and had said they declined. Not a surprise. There is no upside for the Bulldogs playing them. Rochester puts a bunch of points on them in quarter one and then starts the reserves early. Staunton takes a bad loss and if Massey projections are correct then ends up having to sweat out making postseason play with two wins.

Coach Leonard did mention something that he would like to see which I doubt the Ihsa would approve. In a situation like that both teams would be awarded a win and still be able to play each other. Ratsy

Can't blame them - but if there was any ironic justice in the world somehow their 510 co-op enrollment would get them to 4A and a Rochester playoff game...
Man I feel this. lol

Feels like they save that kind of "justice" for QND sometimes...

"Back in 4A? Here's Rochester or SHG... enjoy!" 😁 In the end, we never mind though.. gotta play em to beat em ya know?

Any of you CS8 guys have the JV schedule for Decatur Eisenhower? Went on their school site but their 8to18 domain for athletics expired.

from as reliable source as it can come-lanphier is in talks with vandalia for lanphier's homecoming replacement of ike. net-se.
All.... I looked up the projection between the two teams and the Vandals would be a pretty heavy favorite in what would be a week nine game.

With what looks like all three win teams getting into that wk10 postseason play in game do you think the Lions are also considering taking the forfeit? LP and EP week 1 and two are possibles. Lincoln is down, and the Southeast game could be interesting. Two win season a possibilty but that would go to teams with high playoff points. Just curious. Ratsy
